Has anyone tapered from Clonazepam using .125mg disintegrating tablets?

How did you feel? If you succeeded Any PAWS after that last dose?

I used wafers in conjunction with pills. I used both .25 and .125. They melted under my tongue. I have nothing but good things to say about them. It’s just another tool for tapering. I did a dry micro taper at .625 mg. Both a wafer and a .5 mg pill. We can’t compare how we felt because I also was on Valium at the time. And since I was paradoxical to the klonopin, the lower I got, the better I felt. I jumped off .006 mg and it was a non event. I just felt super tired but that was from the Valium. I just finished tapering off both about four months ago and feel great! Good luck 🍀👍

Hello, BG.

My apologies to the D123 for hijacking this thread.

Did you dry cut the ODTs?  Cut and weigh?  Other?

What was your taper rate?

Taper rates differed. When I did a dry micro taper I cut .001 mg every day and then three days and hold the fourth. At the beginning I was on such a high dose I just dropped 2 mg at once. Then I cut between 5% and 10% a month.

I’m sorry but I don’t know what ODTs are and here I thought I knew everything lol 😆

Hello, BG. My bad. ODTs (Orally Disintegrating Tablets) are what (I think) you refer to as wafers.

The ODTs available in the US are not sublingual (no need to place them under the tongue). Instead, you place them on the tongue, wait briefly while they disintegrate, then swallow.  Are you in a different country?  No need to say which one, just curious as to possible differences in drug formulations in different countries.

Edit: Added question about possible differences in drug formulations (wafers vs ODTs) in different countries

I’m in America though these days I wish I wasn’t. Yes I put the wafers under my tongue 👅. They melted very quickly and frankly I liked them more than the pills 💊. I don’t think it matters much. Tomato tomato.

Hello again, BG.  Thanks for the clarification.

How did you get below 0.125mg using the wafers?  Did you dry cut them? Cut and weigh? Other?

I was on .625 mg. I dry micro taper the .5 mg and took the wafer. Once I reached .375 mg of the pill I got rid of the wafer and started all over again micro cutting the .5 pill. I believe we who started the KK made a pact to run over our scales after we were finished. I had two and ran over both numerous times. Boy that felt good.

Hello, BG. My bad. ODTs (Orally Disintegrating Tablets) are what (I think) you refer to as wafers.

The ODTs available in the US are not sublingual

Yes, very important (and often misunderstood) distinction.  ODT meds are primarily processed and metabolized exactly the same as a conventional tablet.  With and ODT, you simply allow that tablet to dissolve in the mouth, but swallow the contents with the normal siliva flow.

With sublingual administration, the med is absorbed directly through the buccal tissue, and bypasses the first-pass metabolizing.
