Hello....I read about this site a couple of years ago because it was mentioned in a memoir.  I never dreamed I would be using the site for my own support.  But to sum up where I am now...I have taken a Clonazepam every night for over twenty years and not to mention as needed....as the prescription reads.  The miracle pill started to cause me severe memory loss about six months ago and here I am completely off the meds as of September 15, 2019 and I am reeling with side effects that sometimes make me wonder if I will live through this.  I tapered off a period of 1.5 months.  Anyway,  here I am not working, not playing and for the most part staying home with muscle tremors, hot sweats that make the change of life seem like a picnic and right back where I started with little or no sleep for nights on end.    Thank you for listening.

Hi cindylou.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The effects of benzodiazepine use can indeed last for some time after withdrawal as it takes some time for the central nervous system to recover. In the meantime there are ways to help cope with the symptoms.

Let me give you a link to Post-withdrawal Recovery Support to begin posting for support.

Other members replying to your posts need to know where you are in the process, so here’s how to add your benzodiazepine information automatically to your posts: go to Profile, then Forum Profile, write your pertinent info (benzodiazepine, dose, taper history) in the text box and save. Thanks! Let us know if you need help with this.

Take care, we’re here to help.

The Ashton Manual is a comprehensive and highly regarded free online resource about benzodiazepine use, withdrawal and recovery. If you’re not familiar with it we recommend having a look.

You have tapered too quickly for your

Brain to adjust to 20 years of chronic use.

Since it’s only been under 2 weeks maybe

reinstate to lowest dose, stabilize and do it

by 10% drops as recommended? Just my opinion.
