I'm 14 days off diazepam and dealing with bad anxiety.  I felt fine going off.  At 9 days off I had a really hard day and took a 2 mg diazepam.  Could this be the reason I'm feeling bad anxiety?  Anybody else feel worse at 14 days off?

I don't believe a one off  2mg diazepam would alter things that much Passionsky.

I'm certainly not an expert, but think (possibly) you are entering the Acute phase encountered by some people following cessation.  Me included.

From what I understand this phase can last 60+ days.  This is not a concrete rule by any means, and you might come good in a week.   It really is different for everyone.  Apart from symptoms, I found this was a time where I began to 'get a handle on it'.  Understand it.

Yes, I did feel worse at 14 days Passionsky and I'm still struggling with the whole thing now, at 7 months off.  Point is, I'm improving, as will you.

Have a look at The 4 Stages of Withdrawal on Home page, compiled by Sofa King.  It really helps in understanding the process.

You can do this Passionsky.

Thanks for the response Deadwood, I looked at what you recommended.

If this is my new normal no way can I live with it.  It got so bad I took some extra Zyprexa I have here.  Today I haven't needed any extra I'm hoping it was just temporary.  I'm bipolar and just can't live with that amount of anxiety.  I'll know more tomorrow if it was just temporary.  It's just so weird to feel alright 14 days off then major anxiety at 15 days off?

I hope it's just temporary.  Let's hope.

Do you take Zyprexa regularly? It is a thienobenzo

The acute phase hit me hard at what I would guess was 14 days off.  I was having a good bit of anxiety before that but that’s when it really hit me.  I got extremely agitated and took a Seroquel which basically put me to sleep.  I was ok after that.  Just an acute spike of whatever.

Hang in there.  Don’t feel bad about the rescue Valium dose.

If you were taking diazepam and stopped two weeks ago, it has still been in your body as it has a very long half-life. You’ve essentially been tapering to zero even though you haven’t taken anything. So probably having some acute symptoms, totally normal : )

No its not a benzo.  It's an antipsychotic.  Yes I take 5 mgs regularly.  But I took 2.5 mgs bc the anxiety got so bad.  I don't feel bad about that...

Ok, I just hope it's not going to be that horrible intense anxiety.  I can't live that way...

Thanks so much!  I hope it was just temporary.  It was horrible for about 3 days.  I finally gave in and took the Zyprexa.  I hope I'll be ok now.  I can't live with that paralyzing anxiety.

Failure is right that it’s a thienobenzodiazapine. They share a similar chemical backbone and olanzapine (Zyprexa) does have weak gaba A receptor affinity, but most of its clinical effect is from modulation of neurotransmitters other than gaba.

I don't feel like a failure for taking extra Zyprexa.  My dr forced me off benzos to begin with.

ICAN isn't calling you a failure. He was commenting on Failureisnotanoption's post. He just didn't use all of his profile name. It is useful to use the "Quote" function in this case.

Well that horrible intense anxiety has left.  Gosh that was horrible.  I hope it never returns.  I really think taking that 2 mgs messed me up.  Just not worth it to take any, and I didn't get any relief anyway.  Lesson learned. ..
