Hair.....

:-\ hair loss. Freaky how much hair is in the shower drain, in the brush. Heck if I am air drying my hair, just running my fingers through the clean damp hair, about 150 hairs drop off. They have clubbed roots suggesting telogen effluvium.  But this is devastating, self image wise. Will it come back? I take omega 3, and biotin, and a multi.  Any fellow hair fallers? And, please God, anyone have your hair return?

I had my hair fall out and I could see my scalp! It was devasating. I went to the hairdresser and in his mirror I saw a bunch of broken hair, I mean tons. He checked and told me they were all new hairs and assured me that once they grow back my hair is done falling out. He told me it is very common when someone discontinues medications for this to happen. This was about a year ago and he was right. My scalp doesn't  show anymore and I don't  have hair all over the floor any longer. Once my hair started growing back it was restored to it's former glory. Don't  worry..... you will not end up bald. It will all grow back.  It really didnt fall out for very long, maybe a few months. I only noticed my scalp for probably a month. Then I didn't  see it anymore at all. Take care and don't worry.

Oh my God thank you for replying. I hope that's my outcome too. So flipping strange to see a hairball when I clean my brush. Ugh. Not to mention the stress probably adds to the hair fall. Again, thank you for sharing!!! :smitten:

It will be your outcome. Hopefully it won't  be too much longer until you stabilize.  I can't  tell if you are doing the liquid taper but it makes it alot easier on you than the cut and hold. It's not hard at all and if I can help just let me know.  Mary

I've been experiencing the same thing.  As bad as it is, I'm glad I'm in good company ;).  I assumed it was largely because of stress.  I guess tapering from Xanax qualifies as stress :D. I'm hopeful that things will return to normal as time goes on.

It's normal to lose 100-200 strands of hair a day. Stress can most definitely cause hair loss, which is understandable with the stress your body and mind are going through. Also, your hair is the last thing to absorb nutrients, so it's very important to eat healthy during this process. It'll come back. I know this because I'm a cosmetologist. I see hair loss a lot do to stress. Good luck!

I lost a lot of hair during my taper... I estimate about 1/4 of the volume. I'm 4 years off and it's full and shiny again. It takes some time to grow back but once things settle down it will.

Wishing you well,

Carita
