Checked out by cardiologist.  No underlying heart issues. Had palpitations since my 20's but wowee have I had PVCs since tolerance and taper but always sinus rhythm. ER 2x for thumpy beats and 1x for tachycardia episode. Tell me about your heart flutters, skips, thuds, fast or hard pounding. I am hoping to find common triggers among us. :o

My palpitations have been my worst/most worrisome symptom through all this. No heart condition. I too had them checked by a cardiologist and he's not worried at all, and didn't even see a palpitation in my EKG that I wore for 24 hours. I guess some days are worse than others. Maybe im just sensitive to them, for me they've been lessening since I quit drinking I might get 0-1 a day now. I was getting maybe 15+ a day (rough estimate) they annoying for me, what happens to me is my breathing tends to get heavier and my heart races then it pauses for a milli second and then thumps then im back to normal. its not always like that but most of the time that's what happens, for me my trigger is exercise or even just moving around a lot, or not getting enough sleep. I didn't have heart palpitations before this. so when I first started noticing I was freaked out, trying to control your breathing is really important.

I hope they get better for you I know how awful they feel.

At one time I had 30% of my beats being PACs/PVCs ... it was pretty scary. I posted something awhile back about the generally benign quality of these in the absence of underlying heart issues. Sometimes they are just worse than others, but stress increases them, as does eating (at least for me).

I can relate so much! When they hit, it feels like a thudding, or sometimes fluttering. Eating and stress are triggers. Crying is a trigger. They still scare me, even though I was told they are not dangerous.  I have had up to 7 or so right in a row. And they go on for hours. In the ER I was throwing 7 to 11 pvcs a minute. I truly believe that electrical systems like our brains and hearts are affected by these drugs and by tapering from them we are throwing those delicate connections off. For some reason, the night is most scary to me.

Did you have palpitations before Benzos?

Yes but never as many or for so long. I have a feeling everything will calm down as I taper......

Did you read my post on them? It should/should've help/helped with the anxiety over them.

I would love to....where can I find it? It sounds like you went through this big time.....

This puts my mind so at ease.

I get almost crazed checking and rechecking my pulse, the hypervigilance,  looking over every holter report, every echocardiogram.....it is truly neurotic making. It is so hard to understand the power of anxiety and unbridled stress. I am going to TRY and try to not give these blips and skips power over my whole day. Thank you so very much for writing. My worst holter was 6500 pvcs in 24 hours with a couple short runs of svt 8 beats and 5 beats).  CARDIO Doctor says to lead my life and get off Valium safely. And to exercise.....do I listen to his words? Sometimes, yes. At 3 am in a solo palpitation party, I forget his words. I hope I remember your comforting words. 30% is a lot to bear. Thank goodness you did not have a doctor push for ablation!!! All you needed was time right?
