Xanax CT a few weeks in...

Hi,

I went through an awful xanax withdrawal a couple weeks ago, and thankfully the acute portion only lasted 5-7 days.  I've developed this phobia of driving on the freeway, an inability to be in public (I think due to being so afraid of going into panic mode), and sometimes my senses are so heightened that it's almost as if I'm having auditory hallucinations.  I had to stop a new job and put life on hold as I recover.

Does anyone else have experience with agoraphobia and/or developing new phobias after withdrawal?  It's weird to be so scared so much of the time.

Thank you all.  I know my symptoms are now not nearly as bad as many of yours.

What you describe is totally normal in withdrawals. I am glad that you were able to put the new job on hold for a little while as you heal.... you may not have suffered as intensely as others here but make no mistake: Your brain is telling you something with these new fears and phobias.  It needs rest and time to heal without overstimulation. If you don't get that now - it may be a long haul until you fully recover.  Good job getting of the Benzo!

Thank you so much, LeslieJ.

I appreciate the words of encouragement and support.  You're right.  I just need time, as we all do.  I find myself getting so so angry with my psychiatrist, my therapist, everyone who has told me that I needed these drugs.  >:D

Hello  :) I CT'd 2+ mg of Klonopin after using for about 5 yrs. . I just wanted to pop in and say yes, I also have battled agoraphobia and that constant feeling of fear/panic. My hypersensitivity was one of my most potent symptoms in acute and has been diminishing while being in protracted w/d. Example, when I fell into acute, I was visiting my GF at the time in Florida and had to fly back home. While on the plane, someone was playing a video with an action scene and I felt like I was in the movie. I postured up quickly and started looking around frantically as if there was a freaking war going on around me!...  :D I also dealt extreme anger/rage, that is not unusual at least for my experience.

Long story short, I can relate to what you are going through and those symptoms have diminished and continue to diminish over time. PM if you have questions or want to know what's working for me.
