Seeking help/resources for Ativan taper

[Wa...]

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I’m currently in the midst of trying to taper off 1mg of Ativan while also tapering Celexa. I started taking Ativan daily for anxiety/depression in May and have reduced to .75 with some significant side effects, especially a worsening of my chronic neck pain and morning anxiety. This is my first period of extended Ativan use after being on Klonopin years ago for about 6 months. I hope to find help here with ways to taper off so as to minimize pain and suffering. And maybe help others if I can.

Hello WalterB   Welcome to BenzoBuddies!.

We are glad you joined our community, we are here to help you through this.  How long have you been on Celexa ?  You are most likely experiencing withdrawal symptoms from both of these drugs.  I would taper off one drug at a time.    Benzos should be tapered slowly at a suggested reduction rate of between 5-10% every 10-14 days.  This can be adjusted based on how you feel.

The Ashton Manual is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body. I would suggest that you check it out,  It provides tapering and withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

You will find some very valuable support and information on the forum.  Our members are happy to share their personal experiences with you and support you.. Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads.

Hi WalterB and welcome.

I’m glad you found this forum and are ready to taper off Ativan. There are many people here who did so successfully. I for one have never been on Ativan and I managed to taper off the equivalent of 200 mg Valium. If I can do it than so can you.

A member of the team will check on you and provide you with useful links. Remember, slow wins the race. :smitten:

Thank you both.

Magrita, I have been on Celexa since 2012. I’m now on a very low dose and don’t know if I am experiencing withdrawal from it. I have been going onto Zoloft at the same time.

Thanks for all the help!
