Unfortunately, I highly doubt we will see any changes in how benzos are prescribed. I believe that Big Pharma continues to squelch that information when talking or emailing physicians. The entire truth about benzos is NOT out there. That's awful but its also true.

I do. Big pharma isn't going anywhere. All you have to do is look on this board where many doctors don't believe benzo withdrawal even exists. So, it isn't widely known. Benzos are still first line treatment for a lot of panic disorders and that will take a long time to change. And, CBD doesn't work for everyone. I've taken several brands and it was like drinking water. No effect on my anxiety or sleep whatsoever.

You so right about doctors not believing xanax withdrawal doesn't exist or isn't dramatic as they think. Yet they're certified doctors....I wish I was addicted to opiods least I'd obviously be normal then >:(

I was talking to a friend about this today.  I know two people who have killed themselves in the city that I live in. I am almost certain that it was because of benzo withdrawal or tolerance withdrawal. My friend was saying how the pharmaceutical companies need to be held accountable for this, and I told her that unlike opiates, a direct link to deaths and benzodiazepines use withdrawal cannot be drawn.

It's terrible that it took so many years for the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture oxy and other opiates are just now being made responsible for their actions. Hundreds of thousands of people have died in the interim.

Unfortunately, deaths from Benzodiazepine use and withdrawal can't be proven to be linked to the ingestion of the drug. I don't see how any attorney could ever prove an exact causal link between death and benzodiazepines, unless of course it's an overdose combined with alcohol or other drugs. It is horrible, but I don't think the companies and doctors will be found legally responsible like they have been with regard to prescribe opiates.

I think it takes a lot to stop making a particular drug maybe if it became against the law About the Guy who came up with benzos I'm sure he's still making millions

2020? Absolutely. I’ve noticed a disturbing trend of pop culture references regarding Xanax in the past year. There are rappers promoting the stuff and I’m guessing it’s a cool trend. We’ll see how cool it is when they stop in 5 years. No, I think 2020 is too soon to hope for change, but I think the work of BIC and the anti-benzo info I see on Facebook, etc will eventually bring enough awareness to make a difference. There are some good signs out there. My fiancé was in a mainstream doctor’s office recently and there was a warning sign about benzos in the waiting room. I think the tide will turn, but slowly.

We don’t have to go to the pharmacy to fill the script, just say no to benzos and go home. By listening to clueless doctors we are contributing to the problem. Tell the doctor that swallowing a pill to handle normal every day stress is not the answer. I had a doctor tell me that benzos are a wonderful and harmless drug. CLUELESS!!!!
