Rescue dose - back through quick, acute phase?

Hi friends,

In a weak moment I took a couple rescued doses. Each reiterated how much I hated the feeling of the medication and how I will never take one again.

Here is my question - it seems like the second one especially seemed to bring back some INTENSE symptoms that I hadn’t had in a long time. Extreme DR/DP, increased ear ringing, pressure in head at new spot etc.

However, I am glad to say that it seems to be rapidly improving. This weekend was an absolute wreck, and today - although still not back to my baseline, is much much better.

I’ll be honest - feeling like I did this weekend made me honestly feel like I reset any healing at all. Today I realize what an bad idea taking a rescue dose is, but I feel like what I’m experiencing is something similar to what I have read about before with people taking rescues doses or drinking alcohol and going back through a rapid W/D process that seems to dissipate over a few weeks / month.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I’ll be so relieved when I’m back to my baseline and never take how I was feeling for granted again. This has made me realize how much worse off I could

Be.

Hello Friend...

I too, took 2 very small doses of Xanax (.125 mgs).  I did this not as rescue doses, but was actually going to reinstate benzos.    In addition to the normal withdrawals from benzos...going off the them woke up my migraines, which I haven't had for 20+ years.  I didn't realize this and have been having back to back to back intense migraines for weeks (so much so it showed up on my MRI).  These migraines have morphed into akathesia in my face, arms and legs along with severe burning brain.

Once I found out it was migraines, I decided not to reinstate, but the damage was done in taking 2 doses.  I am on Day 3 after stopping and am feeling pretty crappy...I hope it doesn't set me back too far.  (fingers crossed)

Don't beat yourself up...this is a crazy s***storm of a ride and we all do the best we can!  Let's support each other through our victories and our weaknesses.  This forum is not to beat each other up, but to lift each other up.

If you want to talk, I am here for you!!  God Bless us all...
