There is no way to live like this. I’m 16 months off. I feel terrible 24/7. Today I drove 8 mins to craft store, ran in to grab yarn and back home. I would like to say I didn’t feel anxious. AFTER I got home the overstimulation feeling in my brain hits and I feel inside my brain like I’m going to seize and die! It’s been 30 mins and I’m still in my dark room, please someone what is this? I’ve read that low gaba can cause seizures, so can overstimulation. It’s a pure overstimulation to my brain like I’m honestly dying. Is this just anxiety/panic? Or is it the fact that my gaba is still downregulated and it can’t handle anything.

My friend stopped by last night to drop off some garden veggies and the same thing happened only not to this extent.

I’m at my wits end!

It’s not overstimulation feeling like sensory overload that I get, it’s like everything is misfiring inside my brain and I HAVE to get to a dark quiet room now before I explode. I can’t have anyone talking or any noise when this happens. It honestly feels like I could shut down and die.  Can this be panic?

I am 12 months off benzos and I can tell you that I have difficult times if I overdo it. My hope for us both is that we just need more time to fully recover. I’ve read many success stories that indicate this is true. Hang in there. You might try some tea caffeinated black tea.

Bob7, thanks for replying. The thing is I don’t oberdo it at all. I simply go only 1 place a day and sit at home the rest of the time, I do very minimal.

I am sorry but if you are not stabilized and went out to a place like Michael's to get yarn - the light in that store would set me back.  Building up after you are done Acute is so critical... none of this pushing yourself by driving, talking to people, going into stores, making a selection is going to help you recover if you are not ready.  It will just make you feel like giving up.  Baby steps from What About Bob? Not funny in this case but SO true.  Again, I had someone coaching me on this and now I am perfectly fine to do short trips to the store and go out for a couple of hours at a time.  It took a year to get here.  And I will continue to improve by greater and greater exposure WHEN I am ready.  Understand?
