My reason for joining is I do not know how to relate what i’m Going through to a person not experiencing the same withdrawl symptoms from Xanax.

I’ve been taking Xanax for over 20 years.

I’ve started and finished tapering about four times now because I cannot go to work or make it through a week without getting back on it.

My present dose is 3 mg a day

I was taking up to 8 to 12 mg of Xanax every day and if that didn’t calm me down  I would add  sleeping pills sometimes also clorazepate sometimes and even more stuff

I never knew that ia withdrawl from Xanax existed.

This is cost me my job future work I am single I am 45 so I started taking it when I was about 25 years old .

The psychosis the with drawl symptoms are so overwhelming I do not know what is real and what is not

Hi Tizonee   Welcome to Benzobuddies.

We are glad that you found us.  Withdrawal can be a very challenging time, I found that being among those who understand can make it a little easier.  I am sorry about your job, that happened to me too, after 26 years on benzos, many of us have suffered losses because of these drugs, I know how tough this is.  Be confident, be positive,  you will come through this.  We have a community filled with knowledgeable and compassionate members who can support you.

Tapering slowly is the safest and best way to withdraw. The general tapering guidelines are to cut the daily dose by between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days.  It’s important to listen to your body , if you are feeling too symptomatic, we would suggest that you slow that rate down. The aim is to keep any withdrawal symptoms manageable.

I would suggest that you familiarise yourself with the Ashton Manual, It is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body.  It provides Tapering and withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

You will find some very valuable support and information on the forum.  Our members are happy to share their personal experiences with you and support you.. Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads.

I'll leave you a few links:

Welcome Tizonee.  Sounds like you have really been through it.  People know their stuff around here with tapers.  It has taken many a few times before they got it right.  Hang in there and reach out with your questions.  We are here to support you.
