MRI scheduled any tips?

So I have an mri tonight on my head. Just a precaution since getting mild headaches from tapering, and some of the tingling I would get. But it’s almost completely subsided.. going to go through with it anyway .. I know that’s probably overkill.

Was wondering if anyone had tips for MRIs. My anxiety has been fairly well controlled, been working and stuff.. but once I’m in there who knows.

I was thinking of taking a Benadryl since I have a ride. I dosed klonopin this morning at 6 AM and will not take any benzos? Just seeking ways to stay calm, keep your mind off it and also any medicine that doesn’t impact gaba you’ve used that could be readily available to me

Within a week, I had a nuclear stress test, an echocardiogram, barium x-rays, and an endoscopy.  I was so shaky, nervous and stressed and didn't do anything ahead of time for them except take really deep breaths before each procedure.  The stress test was the worst.  Ugh!  I figured I would get through it and I did, crashing when I got home.

Thinking back to other medical procedures, I was even stressed before I began my taper, so I think that might just be me.

Wishing you the best.

I bit the bullet and tried to become a Buddhist monk.  It worked.

Needless to say I'm now back to being a slackarse.  Part withdrawal related.  :(

Came out good as gold, and much relieved that everything was fine.

You will be ok.  Believe in yourself, you're worth believing in.

Ommmm.  :)

I didn't take anything for my MRI.

I love Dee's method of coping!!!

I just counted backwards from 100, then started again. Pretty soon it was over.

Try anything to distract yourself . . . alphabetical names of states . . . sing the very annoying song "The Lonely Goatherd" From The Sound of Music to yourself. You won't be able to get it out of your mind for months.  :D

Ommm.

Thanks for the tips. Ya my anxiety hasn’t been bad, but my biggest anxiety is being “trapped” although I’m not really trapped, I could always stop (which I don’t intend on doing) thanks for the replies! I’ve got a good mindset about it and reading that has helped as well

I had done a MRI at the start of my tapering, both head and neck and lasted for about 40mins. I was very anxious while waiting for my term so I took an extra low dosage of Xanax to make me calm. So as the MRI is very noisy and cold and last for a little long time, maybe you can wear a extra earplug inside your ear, and don’t wear shorts because the AC made me shaking a lot (although they gave me a blanket), during the MRI just relax your body and close your eyes think you are going to sleep, it will be fine

Yes!!! Practise breathing exercises before going in!

When they tell you to hold your breath and do not move hold it but slowly let it out and like when your letting out air from a balloon you slowly open it to let air out then close it open then close it that's how I did it it worked for me ! When your exhaling PhysicianAssistant actually gave me that advice

I'm sorry.

My deleted post was a rendition of Bing Crosby's, "Don't Fence Me In", but then I thought it was stupid and might look like I was making light of something that can be really scary.  I do know this.

It will be alright Wowzers.

Maybe just hum the song and smile.  :)
