How can I not be dying?

Hello to everyone!

I’m finally under 1mg of Valium and feel like I’m on death’s door! Can anyone else please share how bad the pain and burning can get in different parts of your body as you get lower in dosage? Just needing some encouragement right now.

Wishing you all a beautiful Sunday, Sandy

SJS,  You had me smiling this morning in spite of the torture. I'm at .5 V and I couldn't agree with you more. It seems like it gets worse even though I didn't think it could. The muscle tightness, burning and pain has me crying uncle. I'm really interested in reading some responses to this thread. Being 70, alone and in this misery makes for a bad situation. I'm wondering if I will ever see a window or recover from this hell. I haven't read anything that gives some insight on what will happen next and when. I'm also trying to figure out at what point I jump. Wishing I could do it now, but the sxs are too bad for that right now and I have some dental work ( extractions and a bridge) coming up and I have to be able to at least get there. I'm going down .001Grain (weight) every 3 days so not fast, but still too painful. I'm figuring at .25mg I'll take the plunge after my medical visits.

Hi Lenny!

So good to hear from someone else going through the same thing! I’m 70 as well. Sorry to hear you are going through this alone. I am very blessed to have supportive family and friends! I’m here for you if you just need to talk or vent!

I’m a very active 70 year old with a very fulfilling life. I’m a wife, mother, grandmother and soon to be a great grandmother in a few days. We have lots of friends and an active social life. We love retirement and are fortunate to be able to travel and enjoy life. Taking Xanax for sleep for about 14 months has changed my life dramatically! I have been tapering now for 6 years! I know that is an unusual amount of time, but I have had to hold for very long periods of time for different reasons. I’ve had 3 surgeries, a broken arm, weddings, divorces, babies born, retirement and building a new home in a different state. At times I would hold for 6-7 months at a time. I’m on .5 mgs now and have decided to get no more refills when I run out. I should be done in 3-4 weeks.

My symptoms are increasing since I got under 1mg. I’m dry cutting so my dose is probably not that accurate. I have been functional for most of my tapering. I have never updosed more than .25 mgs, and usually just 1 or 2 doses. I’m not on any other psych drugs. I do take a blood pressure pill.

The pain, burning and fear get the best of me. I know for sure I’m dying. All tests and lab work come back normal.i did have setbacks from steroid injections. One in my knee and one in my hip.

We will get through this, Lenny! I have a very strong faith, even though it wavers at time. Thanks again for your reply.

Wishing you the best, Sandy
