Clonazepam withdrawal. Tinnitus is my own hell

Hi all fellows,

I'm here because I started to take Clonazepam 0.5mg at night due to tinnitus problems. I had tinnitus for 14 years but this january it worsened itself with no known reason. I was not able to cope with it so I end in a psychiatrist who prescribed me clonazepam + paroxetine. Clonazepam seemed to make my tinnitus easier to sleep, but paroxetine make it worse, so I was afraid about paroxetine and side effects so I stop to take it, I only took it like 6 days and 6 days with reduction.

As my tinnitus did not improve, I continued taking clonazepam at night to sleep. But a the third month of taking it, i realized that it made me more harm than benefit, because tinnitus evolution was worsening. So I decided to start tappering it. As I was taking it 3 months and 10 days, I scheduled a taper of another three months. I'm currently at 0.22mg more or less. But tinnitus has worsen a lot, Nowadays it is hell. It started to worsen significatively when I started to tapper this stuff. So I'm trying to be brave and continue my taper plan, and praying that tinnitus does not worsen a lot more, even improve when I will be free of this stuff.

Thanks for reading my story.

Force for all and God help us.

Regards.

Welcome to BenzoBuddies!  We are glad you decided to join us.  You'll find a lot of support and information on this forum, which is the only one of its kind online.

For those starting a taper, we generally recommend starting out at a rate of 5 to 10% every 10-14 days, then adjusting the taper to suit your own needs.  Note: very short term users may be able to taper faster.

Withdrawal symptoms, which vary widely but commonly include anxiety and insomnia, often occur during a taper, but these are temporary and will get better in time.  In general, first tapers are easier, but cold turkeys or multiple withdrawals may be more severe and longer lasting.  Here are a few links to get you started:

Once again, welcome!
