Does benzo WD spike up our Cortisol levels?

Does benzo withdrawal induce our stress response mechanism and cause our Cortisol levels to skyrocket all the time?

If so, how do we treat this health dilemma and normalize our cortisol levels again?

My worst lingering symptom.  Cortisol rushes at 4:30am.  It has no rhyme or reason on when it happens.  Comes and goes.  I'm not sure that anything but time will change that.  I think the body is still trying to reach some sort of equilibrium and will over time.

Tulsi tea and tulsi tablets seem to work for me as far as calming cortisol. When I first started on them, I dosed myself 4 times a day, and had to cut back, as it was working a little TOO well. I take the tablets before bed, as I think the tea is acting as a diuretic. I keep a couple tablets next to the headboard, and take them if necessary in the middle of the night.
