Anyone healed from benzo induced "crushing fatigue"?

Is there anyone who have healed from benzo induced crushing fatigue?

What was the underlying cause of it? and what did you do to heal from this nasty withdrawal symptom?

It is by far my worst symptom! It's debilitating and crippling me, and making me feel incapable and unworthy of anything, unlike any other symptoms that you can deal with, without having to drink lots of caffeine and lots of energy drinks and damage yourself even more!

I can relate to the debilitating feeling you're experiencing. When will it end?

I've had moderate fatigue symptoms for a fairly long time even before this benzo mess started (resulting from vitamin deficiency, sleep apnea and hypothyroid condition, currently being treated). But approximately 11 months after completing my taper, I began to feel really fatigued at work to where I would have to move at a snails pace- absolutely no energy whatsoever. All I ever wanted to do was go back to bed and sleep. After about 3 months of this, it seems to be lightening up a bit to where I can do some repetitive bench work for 20-30 mins. before having to sit down and recover (from some of the back pain that I get) for a while. The relatively severe back pain bordering on spasms aren't helping any. Overall, it does seem to be getting better though.

I'm not sure there was anything specific I did to change the outcome other than just endure it. I was experiencing pretty severe neck pain at the beginning (for about 4 months) and it finally dissipated and hasn't returned. I have recently started on a Keto diet, but I can't say as yet if it's directly helped any of my benzo wd symptoms. On the plus side, it has caused me to lose weight and also reduced my A1c which is reassuring and if nothing else, provides a healthy diversion along with walking.

Hope this helps some. Feel better!

Yeah totally healed from it. I now run 5-10 miles, skateboard for 4 hrs, lift weights, work on artwork, & run errands all in the same day off 2 hrs of sleep with absolutely no issue or symptoms. Only in month 9 from my CT & month 7 from my last benzo.

I am having some of this crushing fatigue.  I was starting to suspect I had a systemic yeast infection or something.  I have started going to acupuncture to help this.  Every few weeks I fantasize about being on ADHD meds, and having tons of focus and energy.  Then I remember what drugs are.  LOL.

I only went to acupuncture yesterday, so can't really report much on it, except I do feel more energy today.

BenzoCalamity,

I'm going through the absolutely same symptoms right now. And, I mean the same - fatigue plus lots of caffeine, which just worsens it. The last couple of days I switched from 3 cups of coffee to black tea, and today I had a cocoa frappe and green tea. Feel much better, with lots more energy.

Stop the caffeine or gradually decrease it, and you should start feeling better immediately. At least, that's my experience. I've had countless times when I couldn't get up from bed, but I forced myself to go out, and would sometimes find myself brisk walking out of nowhere. Another thing that springs to mind, make sure you get proper nutrition: good solid food and vitamins. I highly recommend all the B vitamins, and, of course, the popular vitamin C. Chronic usage of benzos damage our neurons, and all the vitamins B (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12) repair and create new cells :) And make sure you neither overdose, nor underdose.

Wish you luck!

No, the fatigue is absolutely debilitating. I'm not sure if I could attribute it to fluoxetine, which I take at bedtime. I see in your sig that you take antihistamines. They also made the fatigue unbearable for me. I now "only" use antihistamine nasal sprays and eye drops. But they probably get into the system.

I’m dealing with crushing, debilitating fatigue and weakness. In my fourth month off valium. It may in part be due to sleep apnea and secondary polycythemia in my case, or diabetes brought in by withdrawal. Caffeine makes the fatigue worse. I’m also going to cut back on my metformin dose and drop berberine; both for blood sugar.

Wishing you relief!

Estee,

The majority of anti-depressants I've tried never really worked for me, and the only effects that I encountered with them were: 1) increased fatigue (just like you) 2) more depression  :D 3) increased my feelings of aggression towards myself and others.

So, maybe, getting rid of of fluoxetine was not a bad idea at all :) Hope you feel better soon

Oh well, you describe your individual experience with fluoxetine. I'd rather be on an AD than on benzodiazepines. I actually started diazepam when I was off the fluoxetine. The anxiety was unbearable.

I can read in your sig that you take five pills of 2.5 mg lorazepam three times a day. That would equal 125 mg diazepam. Oh my Gosh.

I understand that you're no longer aggressive, despite this dose of the benzo. Only fluoxetine made you aggressive. Fine. It certainly shows in your post. No aggressiveness or feeling of superiority whatsoever.

Why do you even post in this group. I think it is only for people who are off the BZD.

I don't want to continue any conversation in this thread, so please don't bother to reply. I don't like being patronized. I no longer waste my time and energy on people who come to BB to vent their frustrations.

Wow! Thanks for the adrenal rush! Instantly felt better!

Yes it will end. I had this so bad for so long. I was convinced I had ME/CFS or something worse! It has gradually decreased over the course of two years. Yesterday I felt great. I was in your shoes wondering if it would ever end. people said it would and I did not believe them. I felt like I was dying literally every day for months. I could barely take a bath, was in a wheelchair 6 months, couldn't stand or walk. truly horrible. Now I have been much better for the past 5 months. My activity intolerance was also horrible. I could take a walk to the mailbox and feel worse for days. Now I am feeling energetic after exercise. I am almost normal now.

Your fatigue will improve. I am living proof!

Hey Linnie- am I reading your signature correctly?  Did you hold at .016 from August 2018 until February of 2019?  Was that when you were really sick and in a wheelchair?

Thanx Linnie for your beautiful words.

Was your farigue related to vitamin B deficiency?

Or cortisol imbalance?

How did you treat it?

Yes I had a very long hold because I was so disabled.

The fatigue is really common in Benzo withdrawal people. I had a minor b-12 deficiency which would not show up in traditional medical tests. I started taking b-12 6 months ago and it did help with fatigue and issues overall but I can't say for sure how much it helped.

My feeling is that Benzo withdrawal is the real culprit - The usual suspect!

How long did it take you to heal from benzo fatigue?

And how do you feel like now compared to back then?

Do you feel energetic and motivated to achieve things and get things done?

Are you able to wake up early in the morning and get out of bed no matter what and how you slept the night before?

Thanks for your input.
