My story

Hello I am new to this website but found some information online that it would be helpful with my current situation. I am having to stop cold Turkey from taking my usual dose of Clonazepam 2mg once daily for 9 years. I just recently found out I am pregnant I am about 11 weeks and I am so afraid of what might happen to my child if I continue to use my medication.  It's been a very tough struggle I have lost all of my motivation and drive to go to work, to get ready for the day or even just leave my home.  I know I'm not supposed to stop cold Turkey but seeing as that I am pregnant I am willing to fight this battle for my unborn child. I just hope within time things get better for me and my baby is born healthy.

Hello lbecerra20cmm!

We are very glad that you found us!

Wise decision to get off of the benzo's. Yes, you are correct, cold turkey is not recommended. Something to consider...while the majority of folks who get off benzo have minimal symptoms and heal quickly, there are those of us who are sensitive and become totally debilitated from doing a cold turkey/rapid taper. If the latter was to be the case for you, you may not be able to take care of your new born. Why not consider trying a rapid taper and see how you do? Also, many folks have found that doing a symptom based taper reducing 5 - 10% every 10 - 14 days and holding when necessary generally produces manageable symptoms.

I would also like to suggest that you do some research on the various boards. Becoming well informed should better enable you to make difficult decisions as well as provide you with the tools you need for a successful taper & recovery.  You will find many knowledgeable members who will support your efforts to be benzo free. I have enclosed a few links below that may help you. Check them out!

Wishing you the very best what ever you decide to do & speedy recovery as well!

Tough situation...welcome to BB btw. Stopping 2 mgs of K CT could be dangerous for both you and your unborn child. Women on benzos do give birth to healthy babies. What did your doctor say to you? I wish I could be more helpful. I would slowly start to reduce as much as possible but personally, I would not stop CT.
