I am here because I recently stopped my xanax .25 mg last week and I did not taper. I used it as needed, so not everyday.  I was prescribed it for anxiety  6 months ago. There were some days I took it and some where I didnt. I never felt well while taking it. Some days felt really foggy and I'm wondering since I only took it as needed if that actually made me feel worse. I would often feel dizzy and like something was off. So I decided to just quit and now I'm wondering if I'm experiencing withdrawl from. 25mg. In a week I have felt extreme vertigo, shaking, diarrhea, muscle contractions and weakness. Is this withdrawl? If so, I feel awful. I didnt think  .25mg would do this to me since I didnt take it every day.  I am here for support as I feel alone and dont understand if what I'm experiencing is due to the removal of the drug or something else.

Hello Healing77!

We are very glad that you found us!

I am glad to hear that you are off the Xanax. CT is generally not recommended and may intensify withdrawal symptoms. The majority of folks who quit taking benzo's fully recover. Short term usage is a huge advantage in your recovery. Hopefully your symptoms are short lived and you recover quickly.

I would like to suggest that you do some research on the various boards. Becoming well informed should better enable you to make difficult decisions as well as provide you with the tools you need for a successful recovery.  You will find many knowledgeable members who will support your efforts to remain benzo free. I have enclosed a few links below that may help you. Check them out!

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

hi dear you are lucky to be here !!

If all started once you stopped xanax it is for sure withdrawal .

Please get information in this website . I own my life to this website. I was only one week on valium and auffered fro a year . Doctors didn’t believe it was withdrawal, those diagnosed me with depression anxiety ptsd delusions ect  keep fighting and spread awareness about these catastrophic drugs

Hi, yes it definitely sounds like withdrawal symptoms.  A good place for you to start would be with the Ashton Manual , it will explain a lot to you about benzo's, and  withdrawal symptoms.  What is happening to you sounds like common symptoms.  I am very sorry this happened to you after such a low dose.  Unfortunately, many of us are more sensitive to these drugs than others. Next, IMO, I would go to the Cold Turkey Thread on the Homepage and Post Recovery, which the moderator left you a link for,  ask as many questions as you need.  Again, welcome to bb.  Mary 🍀
