OCD

Hey,

Is there a thread for those who suffer from mostly OCD related symptoms.  I see there is one for insomnia, anxiety, depression.

My question is should the OCD be treated like someone who has OCD besides in withdrawal.  If you didn't have it before should it just eventually go away when your brain starts getting back to normal.  Or has the stress of withdrawal opened up OCD tendencies etc.

I just want to know if I should be doing some sort of therapy because the hyperawareness OCD is driving me absolutely insane and it keeps on getting worse and worse.

Thanks for any advice

I know this thread is a bit older, but I'm wondering if anybody has insight to the OCD symptoms that come with withdrawal.

I was diagnosed with OCD prior to benzo withdrawal but the withdrawal has exacerbated the symptoms to the point where my OCD feels like an entirely different much more intense disorder.

I am not sure if these symptoms come as a result of the stress of withdrawal or what but I haven't seen many improvements in the OCD symptoms as of yet.

I wish you luck, op

Therapy is never a bad option, provided you find a therapist that you can trust and work well with.

I've developed pretty severe OCD during withdrawal as well. I never had it before psych meds.

Currently, I've been having really intrusive fearful thoughts that come around randomly, but with an intensity, I've not really experienced outside of withdrawal. I'll be driving down the road talking to a family member and suddenly I'll get hit with fear and a fearful thought. The thoughts are always different and sometimes it's just anxiety or confusion, other times its entirely just existential thoughts. Like I'll have a random thought about how I'm confused and something is wrong with me, but it completely comes out of nowhere as if someone else is controlling my brain. I just ignore it and let it pass, but there's always more. This pretty much happens all day, unless I'm at work or really distracted. Is this just normal for the severe state of fight or flight that we are in?

Anyway, you guys are definitely not alone. Therapy doesn't hurt. It would allow you to feel validated and get some insight on how normal these symptoms actually are, even in people outside of withdrawal. The skills to cope are there and this will go away either way.

Yes, I have this exact same issue!

It's seemingly random! I'll be feeling totally fine and then, BAM, intrusive thought leading to anxiety attack!

I never had issues like this prior to withdrawal either.
