Sorry I realize this seems pretty unimportant. I just feel like I’m reaching a breaking point with a new symptom everyday. I was feeling good after my jump and I’m getting a lot of new symptoms. I thought I was healing and I’m just a little overwhelmed. Sorry for my irrational post. It’s a bit extreme to say cold sores are my worst nightmare. This who thing is my worst nightmare. Just having a hard time.

Penny: I remember this symptom, and it was during the first time. The area around the mouth also felt numb. It was worst in the mornings, and I couldn't talk on the phone.

But now it's over. I hope you feel better soon!

Anna

Cold sores are herpes, don’t worry eventually your immune system will fight the virus and it will go into back into hiding (herpes cannot be killed). It is said that during withdrawal, especially a symptomatic withdrawal that we are immunocompromised which is probably why your outbreaks are occurring. Will pass, hand in there.

I don't think we can make a diagnosis here like "herpes". WD causes so many strange symptoms.

I found this in Ashton manual:

Bodily sensations: All sorts of strange tinglings, pins and needles, patches of numbness, feelings of electric shocks, sensations of hot and cold, itching, and deep burning pain are not uncommon during benzodiazepine withdrawal

I get this too. Still, under stress, only it's not very bad and it doesn't run the life span of a true cold sore. It'll pop up and be gone in maybe even as little as a day. I think it's the herpes virus, I did have it and got cold sores before all this, but because it doesn't behave the way it does under normal circumstances, I wonder. Anyway, don't worry. I had a very bad car accident and when I woke up the following day, my entire mouth, top and bottom was covered in them, but they went away quickly too so... who knows... I'm just saying it can be a response to extreme stress of one kind or another.

I had this.  It was so painful.  It started like bad flu, and then got even worse.  I ended up going to see a doctor cause my husband was convinced I had an infection.  The doc said it was a virus, and gave me lyrica for the pain.  It said it was similar to the Coxsackie virus, but he didn't think it was actually it.  My son had the flu before me and had none of the mouth sores.  I wasn't sure it was from withdrawal at first, but now, looking back, I really think it was.

Penny- mine happened almost two months after I was off, and if I remember correctly, only lasted like 2-3 weeks.  I have had no mouths sores since then.

You’re right. I honestly freaked out at the sight of little blisters but I actually have little blisters on my cheeks too when they burn real bad. I think it may be dermatitis. I can’t slow my mind when I’m freaking out. I’m exhausted by this experience.

This makes so much sense. I had one that took 5 days to go away but last night in my freak out I assumed what I was getting was the same thing but like u said happened to u, it went away and now it’s barley noticeable the next day. That leads me to believe it’s an allergy.
