Does anyone know the science behind non-linear healing?

I'm very early on in w/d but seem to be getting better each month by really the slightest hair but I notice. I'm still not functioning at all like a normal human though. I realize lots of people get hit with set backs months or even years out. I'm just curious how this works scientifically? I guess in my fantasy world I'm eating lots of fish oil and my brain is repairing itself everyday but I know thats not necessarily the case. I just wonder how the brain works where one day some people say they wake up and feel healed or how someone feels better and then gets hit down the road with a wave. What exactly is going on with gaba in the brain to cause this?

Thats the million dollar question..!!

You may?? Wish to look at some of the work from members Perseverance, Parker, and dm123..??

-Not to be exclusive of others either though...

Perhaps others can add to the list..?

Sorry, while I can grasp some of the concepts presented, Its well beyond me to attempt to explain...

I guess in simplicty, for some of us it can go well beyond gabba and glutimate, and their associated receptors.. The CNS is in constant flux in its attempt to maintain homiostasis, and I suspect other "systems" attempt to compensate.. This all has to recalibrate as we heal..

Personally, I would  the fish oil, -if that helps any..?

Gently support your body, try to keep your CNS calm, and sadly give it the time it needs.. IMHO

Obviously we need to be vigilant for other complications and any base deficiencies, just as much as avoiding exessive stress, etc... Not that this is always possible..

Do not under estimate your bodys ability to heal, and reinforce that with thought, -and as you are, perhaps sound knowledge..

Best wishes..

:)

Some people do experience linear healing, up to now, I am one of them. There could be many reasons that people go back and forward in there healing, and I suspect there is more at play, such as supplements, smoking or other drug's. People are not always honest in what they do even if they swear up and down they are.

For the truly none-linear healers, it could be a million different reasons. They could be more sensitive to stress than others, it may be a belief issue, your mind can create very real symptoms if it believes that they should be there. It could be the cns is just a really complicated mechanism. Noboby really knows for sure because the research hasn't really been done, although there seems to be momentum gathering in this area allbeit slowly

Yes, I should clarify that I was just speculating, -and more at the short term non liniar aspects.. As in whilst tapering and shortly after..

-Certainally not a "this is how it is.." That realy would be a little arrogant...

I've had a somewhat similar question: what actually happens neurologically when one experiences a window? Through the last 8-10 months, I've had just a handful of windows that were at best, a brief, reduced intensity of symptoms with one exception: I had an 8 hour (emotional) window, where I not only experienced a mere cessation of symptoms, but actually felt that I was on the plus side of things and could engage with life and felt grounded and had access to my emotions again. Was this an experience of real healing or could it have been just a bit of benzo molecule detaching from a fat cell somewhere and making itself known?

Then I wonder if we exercise and burn off some fat, does one feel better, or have a window..?

But then, other "feel good" chemistry comes into play too..

(Just for the sake of discussion..)

-Or has someone been sneaking in some cocaine..?? :(

(Not so much for the sake of discussion..)

Personally, I only had but a few true windows, a few hrs at best, but I do remember that everything was "extra".. Extra clear, fresh, and vibrant.. perhaps it was a compare/contrast thing..?? It must have been 8yrs since I felt good like that when it happened, so not the best position to judge from...

Not to mention other meds in the mix, -but that one I have had some practice with... :(

Wouldnt it be great to be able to promote, enhance, or otherwise hang on to windows..!!

Actually, thinking back a couple of yrs, member Nova posted some stuff on The Nature of Non Liniar Healing too, but I cant remember her source... Perhaps it was Parker that Morreweg kindly linked..?

-sorry I cant read or text much with my eye like this.. :(

Wishing everlasting windows for All..

:)

What a question.  I am starting 7th month and had 6 hours today of almost a euphoria.  My sxs ceased and I felt connected and grounded in my emotions.  It was intense.  I cancelled some errands and appointments because I wanted to enjoy every second.  I have had other windows or periods with reduced sxs but this was "it."  I think It was only a sense of normalcy but after the hell of w/d, it seemed so foreign.  My 5th month was more linear.  6th was all over the place with good periods then horribly bad sxs.  Today I cherished every second and then...it left and nausea and the electric current thru my body returned.  These 2 sxs seemed much worse because of how great I felt today.  Actually, nausea and current are easy to manage.  Just lost my perspective for a few hours.  I have read this happening to many people but now I understand the intense mental and physical shift.  Then bam...it's gone.  I believe in a few years, science will explain and hopefully tap into this dynamic.
