Hi

I took Xanax everyday for 2 years, starting slow but quickly ramping up to 16-20 bars a day while also on heroin. After going to a medical detox for 5 days I felt fine, for just the day I got out, and have since spiraled into a state of almost complete inability to function. It’s been around 100 days and I have an extremely hard time focusing on anything, my body doesn’t feel like it’s mine/dissociative/depersonalization stuff, I have a constant tremor feeling in my arms, legs, hand, neck, and head, along with a feeling like my head weighs a million pounds. I don’t feel like I ever know what to say anymore, extremely simple things are extremely difficult now, having major memory issues, equilibrium issues, extreme difficulty sleeping, and I can feel my heartbeat like it’s beating out of my chest in my whole body etc etc etc. basically a 24/7 panic attack the last 3 months. I have no idea what to do

Hi Veevus  Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are glad you joined our community,  a medical detox is a rough road.  The nature of benzodiazepines is they need a slow taper off and places like detox/rehab, remove this drug far too quickly.  Have the symptoms improved any?    I know 3 months will seem a long time, but in terms of benzo withdrawal it isn’t,  It can take quite a long while for the central nervous system to recover.  With more time, you should start to feel things easing up, it will get better, hang in there.

I will leave a link to the Ashton Manual,  it is a definitive resource about these medications. It helps in understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body.  It provides withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

You will find some very valuable support and information on the forum.  Our members are happy to share their personal experiences with you and support you.. Please feel free to browse the boards and post questions to any of the dedicated threads.

I will leave a few links for you to check out:

Professor Ashtons Manual

Cold Turkey Detox & Rapid Withdrawal Board

Post withdrawal recovery support board

Insomnia

Please feel free to ask questions, members can respond with the best information if they know your medication history so I will ask you to create a signature line listing your medication and dose.  Go to the top of the page and select PROFILE then choose forum profile then insert drug history into the text box and remember to click change profile

Welcome aboard

Magrita

Welcome

That must have been foul. Are you alone, or have you family or friends? You need them.

Have you managed to stay off alcohol to allow healing to take place?

The Ashton manual is a great place to start!

Best wishes

Dick

Hey Veevus, welcome to bb.  You have come to a good place to get a lot of good advice and knowledge.  I am not going to lie to you, this is going to be hard.  Cold turkey is a hard way to go but others have come out just fine at the other end, you can too.

All the links the moderator have great information in them.  One thing I need you to do for me, is go to the moderators email, look down for the signature link and put in your drug history.  This will give us a big  picture look and will be able to give you the best advice we can.  All the things you mention sound like withdrawal symptoms but if you ever get scared, don't hesitate to have it checked out.  Peace of mind can mean a lot.  Hang in there Vee, fill out that signature and ask as many questions as you need too.  Good luck and again welcome!  Mary. 💙🙏

Welcome to BB Veevus. I can see why you feel so bad. You were taking a lot of potent psychotropics and a 5 day detox was essentially a CT IMO. It is probably best not to consider reinstatement this far out but I know you must be still suffering terribly.
