Windows, Are they a good sign? They feel so good!

Hello Everyone,

If you have a good window is it a sign that when you start to taper again it might be easier?  I just had a 10 day window during a hold where I felt symptom free, like my normal self with good energy, good sleep, etc.  I went hiking, spent several hours gardening, was able to eat food I hadn't eaten for a while.  I even went out in the early evening to hear some music with friends- something I hadn't done since I started tapering six months ago.

Is a good window in the middle of tapering indicative of anything about the healing process? What is your personal experience?  I know we are all different but I would appreciate any responses.  You can see on my signature although I have come a ways from 6mg. of Ativan to 2.75, I still have a long way to go and plan to go as slow as needed to keep any symptoms at a tolerable level.

Wishing Windows to All,

Luey

I think the windows are a sign of healing and recovery but this process does not seem to be linear as benzos are slowly leaving the body. Enjoy the windows but do not let the waves disappoint you. Keep up the good work. :-)

I also just had a 2 week window . And boom just like that I have not been able to sleep again . Have not done anything different . Wish it could last .

Feels so depressing to think I will go back to not sleeping again .

Just can’t figure it out .

Luey wishing you well

I hear ya Tech21! I have had the same thing happen. Things can just improve for awhile and then back to hell you go.  :'(

It can be somewhat discouraging!

Hi Luey, I can’t speak for everyone but for me this I’ve found to be true. :) I think when we hold it can allow our brains to “catch up” with the rate we’ve been tapering so it can be a good reset. Every time I’ve held I have an easier time when I start back. But, we can’t do holds or long holds all the time unfortunately, gotta keep going... Best of luck to you.

I'm really happy for you you had a nice window and got to feel normal again. That's wonderful news.

yeah im having a small window today. I have been cutting pretty hard this month and have been feeling pretty back the last couple weeks.

Today I have felt decent today. I nice just to sit here and feel "ok"

Ive had these windows on and off for the last few months. I had no windows for the first 5 months. Once i held on the second medication and only cut xanax the windows came more often.

good luck to all.

I totally believe windows are a sign of healing, no matter how short or long they last. It is true. The brain does not heal in a linear fashion like a broken bone would. You can reset a bone and rest it. The brain is online 24/7 which makes healing so complex. There is always hope in that we will and have healed. Keep the Faith! :)

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences.

I guess I spoke too soon about my wonderful 10 day window that lasted through Tuesday during the 2nd half of a 20 day hold.

I had started DLMT again Tuesday at what would be considered a conservative rate of less than a .01mg cut per day.  The "wave" started on Wednesday and has gotten a little bit worse each day.  As of today, Friday, I have only reduced from 2.75mg. to 2.71mg.  I am wondering if such a small reduction could have already sent me back into a wave? Or as some of you have mentioned could it just be the random non-linear nature of this process?

I did start back by taking my daily doses all in liquid and my nighttime dose in tablets.  So today I decided to try combining a majority of my doses in tablets and only a small amount of one dose in liquid.  I have felt a little bit worse from Wed. until today.

Anyway, I don't want to stop and hold at every wave as one of you pointed out.  So unless it gets worse, I want to try to continue DLMT until I at least cut another 1/8 from my dose.  I hope as some of you mentioned that my window was a sign of healing even if I have now returned to a wave.

Your experience and feedback are welcome.

In solidarity and best wishes to all,

Luey
