Very long benzodiazepine withdrawal

[fe...]

Recommended Posts

Hello, i am suffering from Benzodiazepine withdrawal for several years now.

It all started after an operation in 2014. I took Alprazolam, Lorazepam, Zopiclone and Diazepam.

I reduced the dose to zero in 2015 - and until today i am still suffering from it.

This Forum helps me a lot, i already know it since 2015 but i didn't managed to make an account until now.

My hopes are, that i maybe can help other people with my knowledge and experience and that i can exchange myself with other people in my situation.

And please excuse my bad English, i am not a native speaker.

Hello ferdinad0,

Welcome to Benzo Buddies! I'm sorry you are still suffering from withdrawal effects this far out but sadly for some people recovery can take quite a long time. Far longer than anyone would wish. I'm glad you've finally decided to join the forum and we look forward to your contributions.

We do have a dedicated board for those in what is called Protracted Withdrawal, that is, withdrawal lasting longer than 18 months. You can communicate with others in the same situation as yourself, if you chose. You are also welcome to visit and participate on all of the boards of the forum. You do need to 'join' the protracted board should you wish you see it and post there. To join the board:

Please go to:

Profile >> Modify Profile >> Group Membership >> '[Access] Protracted Withdrawal Support Area' (click 'Join Group').

I'll also give you a link to the Ashton Manual. Although it discusses tapering in great detail, it also gives good information about the withdrawal process in general. The manual was written by Dr. Heather Ashton, an expert in the field.

You'll get a lot of support as you continue to recover, to heal. Time will allow your central nervous system to reset and return to balance. Please do ask questions, we're here to help.

The Ashton Manual
