Ativan Withdrawl

[Wc...]

Recommended Posts

I was on between 1-2.5 mg a day of Ativan for about 4 weeks. Reason for being on in first place was having panic attacks after given prednisone for allergic reaction. Cold turkey Ativan 2.5 weeks ago. Still having random light to moderate anxiety which i have been trying to control with l-theanine roughly 600-800 mg a day. Purpose for being here is to find out how long i can expect this residual anxiety to last, as i believe the worst of it is over, but very much looking forward to getting back to myself. Any other suggestions for natural supplements are welcome for aid. Thank you in advance for your responses!

Hello  Wcool7!

We are very glad that you found us!

It is hard to say exactly how long the residual anxiety will last. It would make sense that if Anxiety was not pre-existing prior to benzo use it should subside at some point. Give it a couple more weeks

I would like to suggest that you do some research on the various boards. Becoming well informed should better enable you to make difficult decisions as well as provide you with the tools you need for a successful taper & recovery.  You will find many knowledgeable members who will support your efforts to be benzo free. I have enclosed a few links below that may help you. Check them out!

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Thank you Bella! Its just very difficult to wrap my mind around the fact I was only on these for a few weeks and am still having issues with anxiety at now three weeks after cold turkey. Is this a normal reaction for someone only on for a few weeks? Ive read all of the attachments and have been very helpful in understanding what is going on. Also, do you know if l-theanine has any type of dependancy issues or anything else i should know about the higher doses i am taking? Thanks in advance!

Hi there!

Yes, unfortunately some of us seem to be more sensitive than others. Your CNS will return to normal. In the mean time, maybe consider practicing some natural relaxation techniques if you are not already doing so

Your situation sounds very similar to mine!  I had an allergic reaction and was given steroids, which triggered anxiety which led to taking Zoloft and Ativan ....  for me I think I saw a real turning point around the six week mark. I am now nearly 5 months off ...  I am still going through with drawl and have symptoms but I am much improved, back to work and am fully functional.

Restoration 123,

Thank you for your response! How long were you on the Ativan for? What withdrawl symptoms are you still experiencing?

Welcome to BB  Wcool7. I wish I was in your shoes. You were not on this crap like a lot of us here for years and decades. Your detox and w/d should not be as bad as many of us here IMO. I wish I had not stayed on this brain toxin for 30 years but I did not know any better when I was put on this crap in the 80's. Back then, there was really no BB or internet to tell you how bad these drugs really are if you use them long-term to manage anxiety and panic. I am paying a horrible price now for that ignorance. :-(

Wcool. Check out my signature ... I took a very low dose of A (.5 and then .25mg) for 8 weeks. I think I became dependent very early on and just didn't realize it. I had all sort of physical symptoms (too many to name) but I consider myself one of the lucky ones since it was short-term use. At 5 months off, I have crackling in my ear, skin sensitivity on my legs and some dizziness (though this last one might be bc of a vision issue) ... I was told by 3 different doctors that my healing timeframe would probably be around 6 months.

You'll be fine! If you only have anxiety and NO physical symptoms, I actually think that's a very good sign. Hang in there ... I think you will heal fairly quickly. Take care of your general health -- try to get sleep and eat a healthy diet. No alcohol. Supplements are hit or miss. Some people say they help, others say they make them worse -- everyone is different!

Hi dear

You can get addicted only in one week on 5 mg valium  as I was and suffered  1 year with extreme symptoms. I took as muscle relaxant for herniated disc .

I almost ended in pshyco yard bc no doctor believed it was withdrawal. Those diagnosed me with depression anxiety ptsd even delusional , paranoja to drug ect

I never thought existed such suffering on earth

I am living the life again , just like I was before putting this catastrophic drug to my system .  This ends and you are so lucky to only have anxiety.  My anxiety was extreme , every cell of my body had anxiety it was an ordeal . Don’t put nothing ellse that effect your brain let it find the homeostasis.

Hugs
