Hello Benzo Buddies~

Been on Xanax for 12 years since my parents died. Drs prescription all these years. I also take Norco 10/325 three or four times a day for 9 years due to surgeries.

I’m on a self induced Xanax taper. I’m not an abuser and I have just recently been informed of the contradictions of using these two RXs together. My GP retired. Never mentioned it!

Hi Maewest

Welcome to Benzobuddies, we are glad you found us.  I’m sorry for the loss of your parents, it must have been a traumatic time for you.  You are not alone, you have us, to help you on your journey to be free, we know what you are going through. You will receive a lot of support and information here on withdrawing from benzodiazepines.  Well done to you on starting your taper, a gradual taper of 5-10% every 10-14 days is generally recommended.  Some of us need to taper slower than this, it depends on how you feel!  The aim is to keep symptoms manageable.

Feel free to post to any of the dedicated boards.  We have a wonderful community of people here.  Our members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

I suggest that you familiarise yourself with the Ashton Manual, It is an excellent  resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body.  It also provides tapering and withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

Here are a few links to information on tapering and withdrawal support:

The Ashton Manual

General Taper Plans

Withdrawal Support

Other Medications

If you would be so kind as to add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice.  Go to the top of the page and select PROFILE then choose forum profile then insert drug history into the text box and remember to click change profile

Welcome  aboard

Magrita

Hi

I can't help with this because I have already tapered but if you post it on the "withdrawal support (during your taper) on the main page some BB's will be able to help you.

Welcome and I'm sure you'll get lots of support from the community here.
