New Doc Advice - what do you think?

Hello Buddies

I made a cut about 2 months ago that has me in a really bad way. I am not getting any better.  I got a new doctor that is recommending that I increase my dose and then begin my taper again.

For quick background I went from 2mg of xanax to .85 very slowly.  Once I reached .85 all hell broke lose.  I have since updosed back to 2.0mg and I am not stable at all. I can barely think.  I can't eat.  I only sleep a few hours at a time.  I can barely go about my day to day duties of life.  I spend most of my day in bed.

What are everyone's thoughts on his advice of updosing more?

Thank you for your replies!!

It took me a long time, personally, to stabilize (if you could call it that, it was hard no matter what) after crossover to valium from lorazepam. Hard core nausea and appetite loss for months, insomnia, extreme fatigue. Lost tons of weight, went totally nuts. I was able to use cannabis back then for the food issue but now it throws me into acute. I would say give that crossover stabilization more time, unless you are back on the xanax? I am looking at your signature.

I'm still not functional, but it's gotten better and eventually, now, I am liquid micro-tapering. I personally wouldn't go back to the short acting benzo and updose, I can almost promise you that's it's just going to eat up some months more of your life. Give yourself as much time as you need to adjust to the valium. The Dr won't get this because it's not part of their 'logic'. The patience here is a real struggle!

I can totally relate to your sxs if you've crossed over I had what sounds exactly the same. While I regret crossing over, I also think tapering off short acing benzos would probably be harder so I try to focus on moving forwards, vs backwards. The waiting and suffering is truly rough and I am so sorry you are feeling so poorly.

For me personally, I'm not even sure what 'stabilizing' means, I just get to some place tolerable (not the 'all hell breaking loose' acute wd stuff, although that still happens from time to time) and then do a liquid microtaper (because it's simple once you get it worked out), because I don't think there really is a dose or taper where my body will be ok with it. This process just sucks for me and accepting this has been useful.

Be realistic with your own body, we are all unique. And if you are back to the xanax stick with it, it takes months to readjust!!! It's not fast, and it sounds to me like you are sensitive to the crossover

I started at 3 mg Xanax per day and went c/t two weeks while in acute all over the map. I did updose to .5 mg and held while adding light exercise (walk around the outside of the house for example) and better eating (got a diabetes wake up call on blood test - ouch).

It is good the doctor is wiling to work with you. I just smile and tell mine I'm taking my Xanax and don't mention the continued taper.

Going above the original dosage after a slow taper would be hard emotionally I think. I know I felt really low when I lost time, and I just went back to the .5. It was a good move for me though.

It did take some days to stabilize on .5. I divided out doses to four times to day and went on DLMT. Both of those changes seemed to help.

I continue to cut very small amounts daily but think I'll hold at .26 for a couple of days as I've had massive fatigue and some depression.

I can't say what would work best for you, but maybe some of the things I did might work. Mostly I just wanted to offer moral support and tell you that you can do this.
