I'm trying to get off Ativan too. When I take my afternoon 0.5mg I get worse for a few hours as well, not sure why this happens...

Me too, ever since 1st day taking valium. Do you guys think it might be prodoxical effects? For this reason, I always thinking maybe need to stop asap. Prodoxical effects can make more permanent harm from what I read many stories.

Prodoxical effects of these brain altering drugs means the drug is causing sx that it supposedly relieve, such as anxiety, muscle relaxation for the case of valium.

Paradoxical effects are more like toxicity to the system damaging the nerves etc. In which way, its different from wd.

We stuck. Tapering down as fast as possible while wd is tolerable or at least not at the risk of serious damage like seizure or dystonia.

I call it dance between 2 evils. Had this during my taper off lex. Toughed out taking the poison while rushing off at the same time.

I was told it’s reverse tolerance - usually found with substances such as alcohol. When I have a bad day and take a higher Valium dose I get PTSD symptoms. Ugh!

[e2...]

what does reverse tolerance even mean?

The description refers to the paradoxical reactions that often occur once tolerance is reached, when you’re sick without the drug and even sicker when you take it.

That happened to me, and I had no alternative but to rapid-taper as long as I could, and then do a cold turkey.

It was unpleasant, to say the least, but so much better than continuing.
