Do benzos effect cortisol for weight loss?

As I posted in another topic I'm about to come off prozac after it put 40 pound on me in just several years. I've been lurking around some anti-depressant forums where people are saying that the benzo's they are on messed up their cortisol hormones and some are taking supplements. I would be afraid to take a hormone supplement but I wonder if this is adding to my inability to loose weight. Since coming off benzos I lost 6 pounds of it but I've been eating a lot healthier and usually weight comes off me quicker when I eat right. People have mentioned that due to their messed up cortisol from benzos when they workout they gain weight the next day. This has been happening with me. Does anyone know about cortisol and how benzos may effect it?

If you Google benzodiazepines and cortisol studies show it suppresses cortisol levels.

We only gain weight if we eat and or drink more. A tablet does not do that, but it’s ingredients doubtless make us ravenous.

I gained about 10 lbs after the taper.  Now when I exercise, it doesn't seem to reduce the weight like before this mess.  I contribute it to my muscles have somewhat atrophied from not exercising.  Muscle is heavier than fat, so as I start exercising, the new muscle mass may contribute to my weight in the beginning.  This will change with continued exercise as muscle uses more calories than fat, so over time you daily metabolism increases causing you to lose weight.  Sustained exercise over a period of time is key.  My thoughts anyway?  I'm having the same issue.

Absolutely who knew!!

And the insolence and inertia on drugs make us put on fat not muscle. Thanks for the reminder.

Especially as the fat leads to metabolic effects which are hidden in most trials by Pharma companies

Too much cortisol can lead to some people forming a 'tire' around their middle.

I gained weight after jumping...but now seem to be losing.  Finally.
