Day 24 off Kolonopin

[Da...]

Recommended Posts

I started a slow taper from 0.25 mg once a day in Feb, and just jumped off.

Its been completely miserable. However, I find i can do most things and keep my mind busy. There is not way I could be working. I can drive and shop be somewhat productive. My legs feel like lead some day and muscles...bone and joints ache. I don't find much relief from all the supplements, healthy eating or OTC pain medication.

Sleep is very hard to come by at all. I know there is now way to tell how long...not sure I'm willing to lose 3 more years as sad at that sounds or even 2 years.

Today, I read an article since its so hard to quit reading and researching. Listening to one more video and finding out more statistics. etc. Evidently, only 30% of people ever make it off these drugs without reinstating. Its so discouraging I was hoping to be one...just down..

30%? That sounds like a very low percentage... where did this article come from?

I'm reading way too much, I'm sure. I did a similar taper to yours but started in Feb and held a lot longer...not a precise cuts but its what I felt my body could do..

(its under dependence and withdraw slide)

I definitely read too much too at times. Remember that no matter what we read it won’t determine how we heal. I want to find all he answers too but they’re just not out there. All we can do is take this a day at a time and try to practice mindfulness and be present. It sucks. I’m feeling really bad these last few days and I’m only 10 days off. I get so discouraged but reading isn’t helping us. It puts ideas in our head as if we need more of those. Lol

If I hadn't researched the crap out of this after I was able to start functioning again, I would most likely not be here right now.  I was convinced I had a brain tumor, Parkinson', Alzheimers, stomach cancer, neuropathy, chronic fatigue syndrome, Fybromyalgia…… the list goes on.  My point is that if there is ever a time to find out as much as you can on how to properly heal and take care of yourself so that there isn't a setback (that is avoidable) then it is now.  So glad you guys did some research before jumping and did tapers.  I am sure it won't take 2-3 years to heal if you are diligent about what to avoid and accept the healing process.  I am almost a year off and can do most stuff in life with lots of rests.. not nearly as active as I was but I will get there!

I was looking at your signature:  ".05mg Klonopin -    once a day for 8 years"  Did you take that in liquid form?  If not, did you have to cut a tablet to get that small of a dose?

Thanks for the encouragement. Completely agree!

Also, I try to keep in mind just like everyone had a different finger print in the Universe, which is amazingly incredible, each of us have a different system if you will. A lot of variables go into the equations, amounts of medication, health, life style. Its hard to compare with someone on antidepressants and other medications, etc.

Yes, its good that we read and education ourselves but just like in real life comparisons are brutal. Honestly, i think we are so wanting to know an estimated heal date. I found myself obsessing during the peak of withdrawl.

To the person who ask about my dose...i corrected my signature to reflect .50 mg the .05 mg was a mistake. Although, i think liquid form will be the way to go if I'm not successful this time.

Best Wishes

Dawn07,

Hang in there, I made it to day 73 as of this morning. I too am struggling but not as bad as some. My daily goal is to get up, put one foot in front of the other, get my shower, to work (and hope no notices me), come home... try to sleep.

I found that not using the computer/iPhone/TV or wear amber or blue light blocking glasses helps me sleep. The blue light from electronic screens tells your brain its daylight. Look on Amazon if interested.

I am getting better I think. Lots of reflection and I am thinking a little better so I have lots of hope.

I am going to see a Functional Medicine doctor. Saw a neurologist, I have cognitive/memory issues determined from a simple test. Not much use really. Seems all MD's cover each others ass, so I am going FM route.

Good luck and hang in there, everybody has a different story.

It is a natural tendency in us to start researching when we are at our worst. What's wrong we ask? Could it be something else? I think you are in very good company on this, so don't be too hard on yourself. It can be scary at times. And yes, it can become even more frightening as we consider the worse of possibilities. I think that much more than 30% are sucessful. The thing is, few who have been through a tough taper want to go through that again. We fear being forced to taper, be it by a doctor or loss of access to medication. By the time we get in post jump we have been through alot already. I think we know it may be tough still, but better going a bit more while moving out of dependency than possibly going through an even tougher taper again by revisiting where we have already been.

I am in pain daily right now, but I consider it the pain of healing, not of self destruction. Hang in there on your healing, it will get better, that's also healing's reward.

FYI - many phones now have a display adjustment for evening that will push the display more red. Mine auto does this every evening set about 10pm as I go to sleep about midnight.
