Hey y’all I need help

I am tapering off .5 Klonopin. It had been the hardest thing I have ever done. Been on for 5 months. Tried to quit cold turkey. Made it 14 days but ended up in the er due to insomnia. At the hospital they gave me 2mg of adivan. The past 12 days I have been back at .5 and my sleep has been non existent. I feel like I am withdrawing. I don’t get it. .5 has been doing nothing. But if I don’t talk it I feel it within a days time. I take .5 once a day at night. Not helping with sleep. No idea what to do. I am hoping I start feeling better so I can start to taper. Did the adivan mess my head up? And make my body crave more? I feel like crap.

Welcome to BenzoBuddies!  We are glad you decided to join us.  You'll find a lot of support and information on this forum, which is the only one of its kind online.  Cold turkeying benzos can cause very severe symptoms, and even though you've reinstated, you may still be feeling the effects of your ct.

For those starting a taper, we generally recommend starting out at a rate of 5 to 10% every 10-14 days, then adjusting the taper to suit your own needs.  Note: very short term users may be able to taper faster.

Withdrawal symptoms, which vary widely but commonly include anxiety and insomnia, often occur during a taper, but these are temporary and will get better in time.  In general, first tapers are easier, but cold turkeys or multiple withdrawals may be more severe and longer lasting.  Here are a few links to get you started:

Once again, welcome!

Regardless of the length of your taper, you are going to experience some type of WD symptoms.  In the words of Jim Morrison, "We don't get out of this life alive" and pure physiology says you do not escape Benzos without WD sx's.  Trust me, sleep is my biggest weakness, but I lived through it.  You cannot die from lack of sleep, you will eventually get the sleep you need.  I went the better part of a month on 2-3 hours a night.  There is nothing worse than the feeling of being wired but tired. Be strong my friend and be determined you are going to beat this thing!  I have had pain from 15 years of age and lived a normal life by setting my intentions and then believing in myself to beat the odds.  If you can see it in your mind's eye you can do it!  PM me for some additional thoughts on ways to get some sleep, but trust me you can win this battle.

Hey monster!

I’m no expert, new here as well but going thru the same mess. You may talk to your doctor about switching over to Valium for the long half life. (Helps with interdose withdrawls)

Then, try a slow taper on the V. At least what I’m trying and seems to work the best.

Welcome and Wishing you health,

Mark

That is probably good advice Mark, I have not had any experience with Klonopin , but you might get some info about the K Club on here. I do not have the luxury of time To research issues with numerous benzos, but they all operate on the same pathway so physiologically they are going to all have a similar/identical end effect upon withdrawal. Your sleep will eventually normalize, the most important thing to understand is the strength of your mind and commitment to getting well is the most important thing to the ultimate success. This is the most difficult thing I have ever had to deal with in My life, yet know I will come out the other side as will you. I’m Sorry you are suffering, however the suffering is temporary. You might want to look at some self hypnosis sessions on You Tube, they are very helpful when I have insomnia. Best of luck as you begin your journey to the rest of the best of your life!
