Chest Pains, Heart Palpitations and PVC’s

[Ho...]

Recommended Posts

I am 5 months Benzo free and still saddled with so many sxs.  The last few days I have had pain in my chest and it feels like my heart is skipping beats.  Has anybody else experienced this?  I don’t want to keep going to doctors to be told there is nothing wrong but I don’t want to suffer a cardiac issue or heart attack either. OMG - When will this ever stop!?!?

I know exactly what you me. If you have the resources get a blood pressure cuff and a pulse/ox. I was blessed to have a sister who is a nurse. It helped me so much to be reassured my bp wasn't explosive and my pulse and oxygen levels were good. If something is different though it might be a good idea to see that doc .It's their job!

I had a few EKGs if they told you its just PVC's then you are in the clear. The skipped beats, pains etc are just withdrawal.

Thank you for the replies!  I wear an Apple Watch and I have a pulse O2 finger monitor so I am regularly checking my stats.  The HR is a bit elevated right now, probably because i’m having anxiety about these symptoms.

I’m fairly certain this is the BWD and I am in a wave right now.  However I did make an appointment with a cardiologist. He can see me the end of July. 🙄

Healing wishes to all!

I used to think my heart was skipping beats and that I was having palpitations, but it turned out I was having gas and couldn't burp so the sensation in my chest felt a lot like my heart was going crazy. The pain is real. I still get this, but knowing it has nothing to do with my heart helps ease the anxiety a ton. I just need to get a good burp out. This can be tricky because for some reason my throat tightens up and simply won't let air out.

Tums help, or laying down and then standing up fast while looking up. If you google "need to burp but can't" and ignore the medical conditions, only looking for the tips and tricks, there are a few on there.

I can't promise that what you are experiencing is the same thing I did but given our circumstances it seems very possible.

This used to be hands down the worst sxs I would get and a source of much panic. Knowing what was truly the cause was an absolute life changer.

If the cardiologist says everything is ok then I would bet this is what you are experiencing.

NHF1976, Thank you so much for the reply.  This would make sense to me as I do have dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing) from the WD.  It can cause gas to build up in my esophagus and upper chest.  I noticed it got worse last night after eating dinner so this is very plausible. I will still follow up with the cardiologist but this makes me feel less anxious about the whole ordeal.

However it does make me cough when I get a strong one.?.?  🤔

Best wishes!

No problem Hopper14. I know how scary this feels so I am just happy to help.

I get the coughing as well. Sometimes a good cough and a burp is all it takes to completely turn it around.

When I used to get that feeling I would go into an extreme panic and start looking up symptoms of heart attacks etc.

Now I just get rid of it and move on with no fear at all.

:)

You just described my life the last few days!  It’s amazing the paranoia or hypochondria these symptoms can give you.  In time I will acclimate to these symptoms (like I have so many others) and go on about my life!

Thanks again!  😊👍

I've had them for 25 years and I'm still alive, LOL.  The more scared you get about it the worse it can be.  You might look up Dr. Sinatra awesome foursome.  They're 4 supplements to help your heart. One of them is d-ribose which you might want to try but take it in the morning and only a little at a time to make sure it's going to agree with you. If I take it too late in the day I have restless legs at night.  Just Google d-ribose heart or d-ribose palpitations and read about it first to see if it's even something you're interested in.

Thanks for the reply AF1 !!  You are right, the more I dwell on it, the worse it seems to affect me.  I’ll have a look at the d-ribose.  Thanks again! 😊
