Need Advice Please

So I was prescribed kolonopin 3 months ago. Im an addict, clean off herion for over 4 years. So I didn't want to become physically depedent on something after overcoming my past addiction and life style. So im prescribed .5mg twice a day. For the past 3 months, ive been taking 1mg once every other day, sometimes once every 3 days. Than sometimes i'll take it two days in a row, between 1-2mg. But for the most part it has been every other day, and sometimes 3 days apart. Im scared because of the long half life this particular benzo has I could of still became physically dependent on it even not taking it daily. Last time I took some was 60 hours ago and I didn't feel terrible but now I feel a little weird, but It might just be in my head from reading all this stuff. Is it safe to just stop and see how I feel? I know people on here would have a lot more knowledge than me about this. Is sporadic use over 3 months enough to have bad withdrawl? im afraid a taper will make me even more dependent if im not that much at this point. Please help..

If you have been off for five days and are tolerating it, if it were me, I would never touch it again. I’m sure you worked very hard to get off of opiates. I don’t understand why any doctor would prescribe a controlled substance to someone with an addiction history but....

 

I applaud you for being honest about what’s happening and feel free to peruse the boards here . Please don’t compare what you are experiencing to what others write about. There are many members who are experiencing horrific withdrawal symptoms that you will undoubtedly never experience if you stay off of this drug. You must have recovery tools you can use for anxiety.  Anything but a benzo . They just are not a good long term solution for anyone. You are lucky you’ve successfully stopped with probably no ill effects.

Nobody can predict withdrawal time lines. Post if you get horrid symptoms.

You don’t get awful dips I hope. 

If I had your guts and determination I would return them to the pharmacist and try to find by using search on here some relaxing natural methods.

I would now nurture yourself after your battles. 

Encouraging for us too that addicts can win.

Thank you guys! With kolonopin and it’s long half life I heard you won’t even start withdrawing for 3 to 4 days so that’s why I was worried that maybe it just hasn’t came yet. Is that true? Also wouldn’t I be safe to take a couple times a week? It really does help me with my anxiety, I’m just scared of death about the withdrawals. I kicked 160mgs of methadone ct, and that was literal hell, so to hear that there’s something a lot worse really has made me freak out.

If you took it twice a week it would still down regulate your Gaba receptors because it’s still in your brain and you would still need to go through a withdrawal process at some stage. . Perhaps better than every other day but still a factor. I fully understand your apprehension but with benzos there is just no easy fix sadly.

I have never taken it but someone will be along to encourage you soon I am sure.
