Still unable to drive

[id...]

Recommended Posts

When I lost my ability to drive I lost my independence because I live in a place without public transit.

I can sometimes drive to grocery store 2 minutes away using side streets but that's about it. No major roads, no freeways, no long trips.

I used to be able to drive just fine before I was put on benzos. My issues with driving started when I was put on Ativan.

Anybody can relate?

I’m been unable to drive since CT in Dec 2018.  I’m often so confused, I’d be afraid of public transit or taxis.  I’m afraid I will get somewhere and get lost (or not get home).  I’m stuck at home (for now).

I still drive regardless of my head pressure. I don’t have the option to just stop driving having two children in school. I just push through. 🙏🏽

Oh yes, I wasn't able to even use Uber for probably 14 months or so.

Hope you get better soon!

You don't understand then. But good for you! I actually lost custody of my child because of it  :'( Not because I wasn't willing to push through but because I am THAT sick and was hospitalized 5 times, one time was ICU. That's how absolutely horribly non-functional withdrawal made me. They don't hospitalize you for head pressure here.

My extreme cog fog confusion, balance, numbness, and neuropathy make it unsafe for me and others to get behind the wheel of an automobile.  I can barely care for myself, I am unable to care for children.  All due to BWD.

Same here. I am sorry you're so sick! You are right -- it's one thing to endanger yourself but endangering others is not only irresponsible but can end in a prison sentence.

I stopped driving in 2013 because I started to get VERY lost . My 4.5 yr taper began in 2014 . Prior to taper I was at 8mgs of klonopin a day . I would fall asleep , get lost etc . I have my car but I used to be in charge of driving the one ton with the horses or the moving trucks . Not now . I would love to drive my BMW again , I just love that car but with POTS and right now exhaustion from this exp I just can't . I am 56 and had my license since I was 16 . I do take public transport .

I was also totally disabled due to withdrawal. Never left my apartment for a year. My symptoms spontaneously improved one day. Now I'm going through a wave again, but not as bad as it was. You will get better. I was also an extreme case.
