Hey I have been unsolveable mess for long time.  Currently on about <4 mg valium, with half being the val. and half klon, my orig drug. Also about 10 ambien.  I tried getting off klon via valium, did not wor, was going bac to klon, stuk on half and half.  And ambien which does not much work at al now.

Am totally alone.  Many say that but I am.

A neighbor who was helping me get to appts is leaving (he will be homeless) so that will be gone. And nobody left.    I'm agoraphoobic, monophobic, insomnia, panic, depression.  Helpless, I feel and verydisabled.

I can maybe go to one dr this week,  before he leave.  should it be a psyhiatrist who says on phone he can take me off  (talked to a few, one is addiction psychiatrist), an internist who maybe knows about this (tho last one not much help, tho), new internist in general, as current one is really not bright and  indoes not follow thru and if wind up in hospital want to be under decent care in general;  woman I am under are with now just inompetent;    community mental health clinic, where I can outlineprob and thereafter hopefully they send someone to my housee for therapy and support (I hope)... tho they will ask who isyour dr. and I dont feel prescribing dr. has hande on what to do with me.  Or, there a housekeeper type person I alrady sort of know maybe can come 2x week.  But all is stress as my circadian rhythm, or lak thereof, and not being 9 to 5 always been my problem before benzos, even.  It was circadian rhythm disorder that led to non sleep and benzos.

Oh-- there one soial worker would work with me with neuerofeedbak/ heart math stuff but how i would get to her on any sort regular basis I don't know.

so, today have to decide on this... thoughts?

Did call one social worker she sd if I can't use city services to get somewhere I belong in a 'facility.'  I terrified of what that means.  Always was independent until this benzo stuff, but after some 35 or so year I don't know what to do... it has really debilitated me.  This therapist would come out once meet me then would be there for support....... uh but i need support usually evenings and don't even know if she work then.  sigh.

oh insomnia and inner vibragion x  and tremor among worse symptoms.  Also fatigue, depressn, anxiety, loneliness.

Apreciate replies.

I would contact your local church or Salvation hall etc

This is what we are here for and certainly in the uk you would get a visitor buddie to advise at the least

Barbara. I am so sorry to hear you are in such distress with the one person who could take you to appointments etc, leaving and becoming homeless.

Be that as it may, There are many housebound people living alone and long gone are the days when they are put in a facility as you put it. Your Doctor must surely have a contact number for home services that you feel you need. I know in the UK that people who are really struggling do get visits in the evening, and there are charities  too  that will do the same.

I would ask  your GP or medical contact for any numbers you can call or for information on whom to contact to set up the services you need.

It might be someone to do some shopping for you or take you to appointments, Often, as Forty says there are services that are free  via a church. You don't have to be a member. It all depends on what you want, but definitely  contact  your Doctor, asking if they have  addresses and numbers or can write to social services to help you with extra provision to  make your life more comfortable at home. There are often volunteer drivers too. You may be surprised what services are out there for those confined to their homes.

It terrible enough the distress you are going through with not getting proper sleep over many years and having different medications being altered, How your poor brain must be struggling with the changes.

However first you need some help to keep you comfortable at home and give you access to the services allowing you to go to appointments.

I do hope things improve for you Barbara, You have been struggling for a long time, and it seems so wrong that you are left with this extra worry about how you will be able to continue managing where you are. Take care . I am thinking of you

Oh dear that's awful for you having no support services at all. Could you get a taxi to your essential appointments? I know it's hard to do if you don't like being alone and agoraphobic. but I can't see what else you can do. Is it possible to advertise for help in a local agency Craig's list perhaps? I really don't know much about it but know people advertise for flat mates,. maybe you could look for a companion friend?  I really don't know much about what is available in the USA .

Maybe someone better informed could help with suggestions for you.

Thanks, but my place is so tiny there is no space for someone else.  if lived in normal size place that is what i would do.

Yes, people don't understand that Medicare, for seniors does not cover social services.  Now, Medicaid, for low income/ people on welfare,  does.  But I am not on that.

Found this link in case anyone cares to read on it.... but Medicare offers mostly skilled nursing care... so if you have a physical problem they will help.  If you don't... they won't.  I mean perhaps some drs find a diagnosis and help you out somehow...  but if only can see one dr. before neighbor leaves sounds like general dr. is not going to be much help.  But do need estab care with halfways intelligent primary care dr.          So need to pick which I do this week if can manage one this week.  thx.

BA,

My heart goes out to you tonight. I have walked in those same shoes and know how frightening it is, to be so alone. When I got off benzos I had NO family who lived near me. I only had a couple friends to help me and I could not rely on them. I was so scared back then and I felt SO alone.

Because I felt the same exact way, I can tell you that this does get better once you heal from benzos. But not until then. And getting through wd being so alone IS frightening.

Does your city or state have ANY resources to help you? Meals on Wheels? Some places even have volunteers to take you to appointments. Once you heal a bit more, then fear of going outside your home will subside, as this is a very normal wd symptom. I used several food banks back then but getting TO them was the problem. I sure could not drive myself.

I wish I had a Magic Wand and could make all of this just go away for you. But I don't. I only have my heart and mind to reassure that this stuff WILL get better.

I do not know your age but I was 62 when my horrible journey getting off benzos began. I am now 69. We older people seem to actually heal a bit better than younger ones, as we have many more li8fe skills to use. Your age will NOT affect your healing.

I am cheering you on this evening. I want you to succeed in this, as I do know you will have a MUCH better life OFF benzos.

HUGE cyber hug,

east

Thanks.  Wow so 7 years after I am off?  I am still on and has been 2.5 years and just have no hope left.

We have meals on wheels, yes, but not sure they will drop them off if you don't answer the door or something.

No, no volunteers of any sort here--  I did look long and hard I think.

Oh and have lifelong friend (well, 50 some years) who does not lift a finger and basically has disappeared... another huge loss.

Seems like can't catch a break and nobody left.
