Never Thought This Could Happen

[St...]

Recommended Posts

I took Xanax for 3 weeks. Either .25mg or .5mg. Then I took Klonopin, 19 pills at .5mg each over 3 weeks. I didn’t think anything would happen. Boy was I wrong. On the 3rd day of my CT I had muscle pain, high anxiety, panic attacks, restlessness, irritable and on and on.

I’m now on day 5 of my CT and I still have anxiety, panic attacks, sweating then chills, insomnia, headaches

It seems to be getting better, as my symptoms do not last as long as they did on day 3, but I’m here anyway for support and to support.

Hello StayStrong2311!

We are very glad that you found us!

I am glad to hear that you are off the Xanax. CT is generally not recommended and may intensify withdrawal symptoms. The majority of folks who quit taking benzo's fully recover. Short term usage is a huge advantage in your recovery. Hopefully your symptoms are short lived and you recover quickly.

I would like to suggest that you do some research on the various boards. Becoming well informed should better enable you to make difficult decisions as well as provide you with the tools you need for a successful recovery.  You will find many knowledgeable members who will support your efforts to remain benzo free. I have enclosed a few links below that may help you. Check them out!

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Bella has pointed you to good advice.  My views are set out below Others May well chip in too.

That’s not a Micky Mouse dose but you’ve go to the stage now that if you go back to a benzo you may be sensitised and uncomfortable.

You are in Withdrawal but if you use exercise good food and distraction you may well be symptom free very soon. Though months are known even on a few weeks benzos

Natural stuff like camomile tea three times a day or Passion flower will take the edge of it but don’t spend much or long on supplements.

Advice only from experience on here. If in discomfort can recommend and antihistamine short term as we did in hospitals

See what others say?....

Well I have bad news. I just could not stand the extreme symptoms. It got to the point of psychosis and intrusive, repetitive thoughts of doing bad things to myself. That scared me beyond belief. The insomnia and loss of appetite did not help the fact I could not stop pacing. I’ve lost 10 pounds. I would take 1-2 mile walks every 2-3 hours. I did get a nice tan though. My doctor told me to reinstate and I could taper from there. My doctor actually got upset with me that I c/t’d. Part of this was my fault for stopping without telling him. However, I found out my testosterone is extremely low and wanted to correct the hormonal imbalance before messing with my brain. Low T has always caused me physciatric problems.

I told him he should mention these meds need to be tapered when he prescribes them. There should be big red letters on the bottle stating “do not stop abruptly”. It’s a potential serious issue.

I reinstated at my old dose of .5mg Klonopin once a day and felt relief in one hour. I’m going to try and taper 10% every 10 days and see what happens. I also have Seeoquel for sleep and Propranolol for the Adrenaline rushes.

Let’s see what happens.

Well done, at least the doc knows.

Lots of us are struggling with Sero withdrawal so don’t CT that will you?

So glad you out of anguish.
