NEED HELP WITH THE ANXIETY

Good Morning All... Please tell me at some point this anxiety will end.  Every single morning I wake up with chest tightness sweating and feel like I can't catch my breath.  Sometimes it turns into a panic attack and sometimes it just stays pretty torturous for a while. I made a post yesterday that I was struggling at day 100 and I just don't know what to do.  It seems to get a little easier as the day goes on but starting every morning like this is just ruining my life.  Any help or positive words of encouragement if you have any tips to get through this.  I would like to go for a walk as I was pretty active before all this but my head is too spaced out and my heart races.  The DP is also starting to really hit me.  Thank you for all the support this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life.

Hi,

Morning anxiety is very common, and I had it for a long time.  I'd gradually feel better after lunch until I felt almost normal late in the day.  This repeated almost every day for a long time, like groundhog day.

Acceptance is one thing that helps, and if you can look forward to feeling better later that helps.  Also, learning to distract yourself with anything that takes your mind off your suffering for awhile is an extremely valuable skill.  It was my main job for a long time.

Morning anxiety happens for multiple reasons, but adrenaline and cortisol surges play a large part in it.  Here's a link to "Understanding Morning Anxiety" on the Anxiety Support Board:

I too struggle with morning anxiety/panic. It typically comes with a host of other symptoms like muscle pain, abdominal cramps, heart palpitations, restless leg syndrome and tinnitus to name a few. I'm now 4 months off lorazepam and fortunately the morning anxiety/panic has decreased significantly the past two weeks. That means there's hope for you.

One thing I've found that's really helped is listening to a 10 minute audio on feeling overwhelmed at cbt4panic.org. I put it on my phone and whenever I'm feeling stressed (like when I wake up in the morning) I take 10 minutes and listen to it. It's amazing how it works. It's like I have my own personal counselor helping me readjust my thinking and helping me calm down. Here's the link to it.

Once you go to this page you'll see other audios that may fit your situation better. There's also an entire course on the website that explains why we have anxiety/panic and how to work through it. It's good info. I hope that helps.

If you are able to exercise, it helps a ton with anxiety. It is my stress reliever. I rarely have anxiety due to fitness.

Hi, I am.so sorry you are having this everyday. I did too for the first few months of tapering amd jumping. It did go away for me for most of the fall and winter. I am currently in a wave so it has come back and is very uncomfortable. But I am sure it will eventually leave again since it did before. I try to just gey through the morning and usually by 12:30, it has gone away. Actually going for a run or doing some oher exercise really helps. Sometimes I go running and then go for a walk also.it helps with the anxiety. Sometimea a bike ride also. It is hard but i t does lessen in intensity. even though it came back for me, Iknow it is because I am in a wave, so it has to leave again, and it will for you too. Try to distract yourself as much as you can.

Oh I can sympathize! The morning anxiety is the WORST! It’s like waking up with a sense of impending doom every damn day! Some things that help for me is to drive straight to the gym and work out and it always helps with the anxiety, 100%. It’s sometimes hard to motivate yourself to get there but it helps me every time. Also I use the Calm app which has a number of guided meditations specific for anxiety and it really helps a lot. I think you can get a free 30 day trial. I hope this helps! This too shall pass!
