Low body temperature

Recommended Posts

My body temperature has always been around 98 degrees.  Lately my average temperature has been around 96 degrees.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes! I also have have a cold temp. around 97.5 mostly in the mornings.  The cold seems to worsen my crushing fatigue making me want to go back to bed!

Thanks for bringing this up as it makes me feel a bit better knowing this is a normal reaction to the the Benzo’s.

Best,  Mark

I definitely am experiencing this.

For me it is in relation to eating habits. I always have my worst anxiety after a meal, and so I have not been eating enough which drops my body temp.

I am still playing around with ways to cope with this. Certain foods are worse for the anxiety, such as cheese, and so I need to change my diet as I find more and more culprits.

Yes my body temperature stays between 95.5 and 97.5. There is nothing I can do about it so I just roll with it.

I get that too, though it seems to be off and on.  It also seems to run with very low blood pressure.  BP can be as low as 87 (sys).  But then body temp will be normal and BP can be up to 150.

Considering I had significant weight and hair loss, it always made me wonder if the benzos messed up the thyroid.  We all KNOW it messes with our adrenals and cortisol so...

I had labs done to check thyroids and all were fine. But, I know it is all withdrawal.

I had lab work done too and it showed normal also.  But...I mean...my body temp really was low!!!  Not exactly an official lab test, but real enough.  It's like we're chasing shadows and ghosts sometimes, as we all know.

Just as an aside...some of the antidepressants contain fluoride.  And that antibiotic in the flouroquinolone (sp) category messes up people on benzos.  Cipro, I think it's called?  Maybe it all gets down to things looking normal on a lab test, but we are just super hypersensitive to everything temporarily???  And our bodies react in weird ways without anything being seriously wrong beyond that.  idk.  Just a theory.

Like everything else, just have to ride it out and be patient, I guess.

Benzos and antipsychotics artificicially raise temp, possibly due to dehydration. Lowers off them--NOT everyone!

Anxiety increases your metabolic rate.--If dramatic.
