Can someone help me understand this

I have been in a wave that was getting better last month. Had a severe anxiety attack on April 29th. Ever since then whenever I go somewhere I am having anxiety and my bp shoots up. Now I am terrified to go out. Just tso weeks ago I was able to gowherever, now I am back in acute it feels like. With adrenaline pumping all the time. Is this permanent? Will it go away again? I am so scared. I was doing so well for months. Just like that in a matter of a day its all different again. I just don't  understand.

Hi Eliza!

That's call ANXIETY!. I have it and is very cruel sometimes. It can produce weird symptoms of all sort. Coming to BB very often is also a trigger for anxiety. Check what you are eating that would be a good start. Watch your weight too. Hope it helps!

I’d have to agree with this as well. And it seems like not being able to pinpoint an exact reason or cause for this reaction is making it even worse for u. The only thing that would help me in times like this would b taking a long walk and continuously telling myself that that I know this feeling. I’ve felt this before, & it is nothing that is a cause for concern or that can seriously harm me. I would tell myself this over & over while concentrating on my breathing until it would help me feel even just a tad bit better. When u can’t understand the reason for it or why it’s happening it tends to make everything feel much more severe, at least it did for me. Just one of the many cruel effects that benzo’s have on the brain once removed. You have to trust that it will get better & eventually subside with time, hang in there, you’ll get through it.

I've had the same problem with anxiety attacks and was suggested cbt4panic.org by another benzo buddy. I put it on my phone and whenever I'm feeling anxiety coming on I play the "if you feel overwhelmed" audio. There's also lots of good info on the website to help a person understand what's going on that leads to an anxiety attack. There's a section on misperceptions and catastrophizing that I found especially helpful. When I listen to the "if you feel overwhelmed" audio it's like having my own personal counselor right there helping me calm down.

But did it get better for you? How far out are you? Are you mostly healed now? Did you have problems with your bp also?

Yes I have. We have actually talked about this before. But even if our rx history was very similar, & we both jumped at the same time, that still doesn’t change the fact that this process is entirely individualized. I’m 8.5 month’s out, & I consider myself about 85-90% healed, & yes have had problems with my BP & am currently taking medication. But I’ve also completely changed my diet & have been exercising rigorously for the last 3 month’s regardless of how I’ve felt & honestly it’s been the only thing I can say with 100% certainty has helped not only get rid of sx but speed this process up.

No need to apologize. It’s quite alright. And honestly, exercising has been more important than my diet. But I definitely stay away from processed & fast foods, & stuff that’s high in salt, msg, & saturated fats. I limit my daily caffeine & sugar intakes as well. It isn’t the strictest most healthiest diet but by avoiding these thing I’ve noticed a huge difference in my sx & sx intensity. You’ll figure out what works for u, it just may take some time, but you’ll get it. All the best

Thanks, I am already following that diet. I have not eaten processed food in years. I just forced myself to drive to the library in my town. Had an anxiety attack, but I was able.to do it. This is definitely some old fear amd new fear wreakng havoc on my mind. I feel like I have to start over again with trying to go places again. I still run amd exercise just about everyday, which helps alot. Now my body kust turns on an anxiety switch as soon as I set off to go somewhere. Very disheartening after I was able to go everywhere for 6

Yeah, I can feel mine start to build up in certain situations & when I feel it happening then I find something to do that will immediately take my mind from those thoughts that seem to b causing it. Sounds like ur doing everything right when it comes to diet & exercise, & I personally believe that exposure over time will definitely help desensitize ur CNS. Keep it up, don’t consider this a permanent setback, just another jump to get over in ur journey. You’ll get there, all the best
