Positive Posts

[So...]

Recommended Posts

I have been scared by so many posts/stories on the forum. And so many things I have read thankfully never happened to me. My heart does break for those who suffer.

But I wanted to start a positive thread where people can post things that will give people hope.

I'm low down in dose on my taper which started at 10mgs valium and now getting close to 1mg. After some rough periods, I discovered the DLMT and so much has improved.

As I have tapered lower: all tinnitus has gone away completely. I have no more brain fog. No more chemical/anxiety morning surges. I exercise again. I go out into the real world and do great. I work more and more. I am more myself.

Let's celebrate our improvements.

My big positive is I have managed to cut .1mg off my 2mg dose in the last 10 days so am now down to 1.9mgs . I got mightily stuck on 2mgs. I am not having an easy journey but I am getting there, and moving again at last.

Great idea, Pete!  :mybuddy:

Although some of my sxs while tapering were rough, like you, many of them dissipated or decreased in intensity as I got to lower doses.  So, healing does happen while tapering!  There's no doubt about it.

And tomorrow will be 4 weeks since I jumped.  So many other posts had me terrified of what lay ahead.  I was literally expecting the sky to fall and acute to crush me.  But, that didn't happen.  I kept improving and sxs kept lessening in intensity. Life isn't perfect, but what I focus on has a huge effect on my experience.

So, please don't expect the worst once you jump because there's a good chance it may not happen.

Weekends are getting increasingly better for me. That's a great sign. I used to have to be moving/pacing the entire time.

It's finally nice in Montana the past few days. Lots of sun.

Let's all keep improving.

Great idea for a thread!

The last 2 mornings I woke without that adrenaline surge.  What a nice change!

I’m getting really close to the end of taper now.  Yay!

My Positive...I am nearing the finish line and will walk off. I have not had any of the horrific sx this time.  And I know I am healing...I feel it and whatever comes I know I will handle it, as I have each day of this long taper. Stay Strong.

                                                          💖 Peace and Healing.

I love the positive post! Wanted to share something about hope.  Brene Brown has a new Netflix special and in a recent interview (http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episode-1012-bren-brown) she talks about hope and how it's not an emotion rather a CBT construct that we learn.  Here's an excerpt (short read) on cultivating hope from one of her books: http://www.bhevolution.org/public/cultivating_hope.page.  Best.

Thanks for sharing, seltzerer!  You always find great information.  IMO, everybody on these boards would benefit from reading that excerpt.

Love this snippet...

We develop a hopeful mind-set when we understand that some worthy endeavors will be difficult and time consuming and not enjoyable at all....If we want to cultivate hopefulness, we have to be willing to be flexible and demonstrate perseverance....Tolerance for disappointment, determination, and a belief in self are the heart of hope.

And now Brene Brown's new Netflix special is on my must watch list.  :)

Hi Guys...

I could write so much here, but I wont.. lol

To sum up, -Once I found my own taper pace that suited my bodys ability to heal, I knew it would all be ok..  From there, time didnt matter near as much...  Finding ones own path, no matter what it is, can bring a peace that pulls us through this...

Sierra, I have read many of your posts, and found them very refreshing indeed... Ty

Chin, -A tough spot for sure, but you are doing a great job..!! Well done on your progress, -despite the difficulties... Your rewards are coming...

My Best to All..

:)

I saw this and immediately felt jealous because you all were able to find positives and I wasn’t.  I forced myself to stop thinking of all the awful symptoms I have and I came up with this...

I am alive. Even if I wonder if that’s what I want at times, I’m here.  From there I asked myself what I was grateful for in this life. I am grateful that I have the ability to be active. My symptoms have been severe at times but I always get up. I always work out and eat clean to make sure my body has what it needs. I am able to heal without having to work and even though that means still needing help from my ex, I am still happy to have that option. I have a very loving brother willing to rent out a room to me and help me in so many ways so I don’t have to be alone in this. And something else that I thank the universe for daily.... all of you. Thank you for reminding me to think positively. We are all healing and I am thankful to have you all to walk through this journey with. So many of you have helped me more than you know.

Happy healing to you all!!!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Happy Mother's Day to so many awesome moms!! Everyone is grateful for you!

I went to a big dinner party last night and had zero symptoms the whole time. I didn't think of tapering or benzos onece. Honestly, the more I do, the better off I am. I had fun. I felt great. Exercise/exposure therapy: it all helps to do it as much as you can.

Slept well again - about 6 hours!

Healing keeps happening everyone so stick to what you are doing.

Sharing positives is so great too.

Glad it’s helpful, Sierra!  Her work has been really helpful to me in going through this.  It addresses some of the more difficult aspects that aren’t often discussed on BB. Best.
