:-\  ok, so, hi.  I am worried about my memory and cognition. and how every day is like trying to live it by swimming under water or oil.  it's so hard to think and focus. and short term memory is shot.  i wasn't like this a year ago.  so, i guess i am either getting dementia (i am 65) or it's the almost 4 week taper and 4 day rehab in feb caused it.  my question is this:    are you aware you mind is not "quite" right and are you aware it's not moving as fast as it used to.  or, is your mind , brain working quickly and speedy and everything is fine in your mind.  or, do you feel like it's hard to think and logic stuff out quickly and do you feel like going through each day is like being under water?  (i am sorry i don't have a signature,  i can't figure it out, even though someone suggest it would be easy , well, it's not for me).    I am tapering 2.75 mg of Ativan (i have been on ativan for 10 years).

Yes, I definitely know "all is not right in my mind" Cathy.  You description of "being underwater", a good one.  I can relate.

I'm not as quick on the uptake, my memory is crap, cogs not turning properly.  I don't believe it's dementia.

You will find many here have same Cathy.

Onwards.  :)

Cathy,

I’m totally aware my mind is not right.  It was not like this before.

We are healing, I look forward to getting my mind back.

Yes. I am hyper aware that I am not thinking at full capacity. I even assume that it's me when it isn't.

The grocery had a bag of apples for $1.99. The sale tag said 2 bags for $2.50. I knew that was wrong, but then I decided I was confused. I went and got an employee to help. She said that someone sure messed that up. So, I laughed and did not get my apples.

On the flip side, I had a sale paper in the baby seat part of my cart and did not see the salsa and can of beans. The check out girl reached in and got those. I thanked her. Then I was thinking she probably thought I was trying to steal those items, although they were the cheapest items from the cart. I decided it really didn't matter I never steal, so if she thought so, "So what?"

It is scary not to be clicking on all cylinders. I'm assuming that my mind will come back at full speed. It's already better. If not, then I'm going with the, "So what?" I'm more than my intelligence, although that does mean a lot to me.
