you are not doomed!  I withdrew 3x, one of my withdrawals was a detox/ct, and I kindled, but I still healed completely.  It took over two years, but I healed.

TheAtivanExperience, are you mostly better now? What was your progression of mental symptoms like?

I'm at nearly 14 months and struggling with mental symptoms still. Some physical stuff too, but mostly mental.

It was all mental for me and too at 14 months. I turned a big corner at 18 months and then felt pretty damn good by 24. I was eating a very strict low glutamate diet at that point and I started reintroducing foods and the anxiety and OCD got worse for a while but I was still functional. By 36 months I could pretty much eat whatever but still had OCD, it just didn’t trigger anxiety anymore. I was happy and functional. By 48 months I was 95% healed and then I had a setback. Don’t worry about the se back thing though, just don’t do anything that messes with gaba or glutamate and you’ll be fine.

TheAtivanExperience,

I'm glad to hear from somebody who got better, for the most part. I am really struggling being around my family at this time because of the anger and intrusive thoughts I feel toward them. It's been a huge struggle since December. It honestly seems to be getting worse. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and have been struggling not feeling angry around her every night. She doesn't do anything wrong. I feel the same way toward my wife sometimes too. It's like having postpartum OCD or depression. It came on from quitting the benzos though. I'm 13.5 months off and not sure what to do. I don't want to leave them, but it's gotten very bad.

at 12 months I have a both physical and mental. my biggest symptom that im so afraid will not heal is the sensory stuff. things too loud, I cant be in public or outside. my head feels heavy and fuzzy still. like its drugged, mix of a my head misfiring and disconnect feeling. I walk around fuzzy, disconnected feeling, then maybe at times like my brain could seize. I get quick glitch feelings, brain feels blank like no info is coming in and I cant process it, severe depression, hypersensitive to everything, I've been to 20 drs and all say anxiety that I need medication. Mayne they are right. who else at a year off has any of these bizarre symptoms. if I just had a few weird mental symptoms like anxiety and depression I would chalk it up to that but I have too many too say its not related to wd. when I move my head around it feels like its lacking behind. but the biggest most scariest symptom is my inability to be around any stimuli. my Brain can honestly not tolerate it.

TheAtivanExperience... what caused your setback?

10,000 lux therapeutic light box. Apparently they boost glutamate exponentially. It reactivated my withdrawal but it’s going at 4x the original speed. I feel lik 60-70% healed after 3.5 months

You WILL heal after a CT. I'm proof of it. Read my sig line. I went to hell and back. Absolutely  brutal experience!!!

I'm good to go now. Back working living a normal life.

Its all gone....and your symptoms will fade away to...just like mine did.

Stay the course and believe in yourself. You can do this!!

It fades. I’m 8 month’s out from a CT, was in tolerance wd for over a year & kindled. All of my mental sx r gone. Not even a hint of them when my sx get revved up. My sensory system is back to between 75-85%. But the hypersensitivity is gone. It’ll fade, just find out what works for u & stick to it. All the best in healing.

I agree withg Krock. I healed nicely after going CT off a boatload of benzos and ADs.  I survived a harrowing wd but did heal. I am no so much healthier and happier being off all that stuff. This stuff can be dealt with, as long as you are willing to try NEW and safer methods to calm your anxiety or insomnia.
