Pretty bad anxiety!

Hi BenzoBuddies! It's been a while since I've been on here but in the last several years I have been to 3 detox facilities to get off 4 more of Ativan and all 3 failed me. They take you off within a week to a week and a half and I felt like I was dying. The withdrawals we're so horrible that I had to enter a psychiatric facility from all three detox facilities just to get back on Ativan. I now take 3.9 Ativan for several months now instead of 4mg. I get .9mg of Ativan made from a Compounding Pharmacy. Can somebody make a suggestion what I should go down next on the Ativan. I take 1mg 3times a day and then take the .9mg of Ativan at night. Should I ask my psychiatrist for the compounding pharmacy to write a script for 8.5mg or 8mg of Ativan. So my total to take Ativan would either be 3.85mg or 3.8mg. You see I have to go extremely slow I mean very slowly otherwise I'll get panic attacks easily. Is it bad to take a couple of extra doses sometimes? When I takes a couple of of extra doses sometimes I'll take 6mg of Ativan altogether one day and then the next day I feel very fatigue and feel a burning flush on my face. Can someone help me figure this out of whats happening to me? Thanks Kim

LuckyCharm have you looked at the forums on here yet? They have a section just about tapering, and a 2 week taper is really going cold-turkey. They're talking about months and months, not weeks.

peace,

stasia

I did inpatient detox in 2006 for Klonopin and almost died. I will never do this again. Benzo sick ppl are desperate and will grasp at anything or anyone who says they can help you painlessly get off benzos. That is a complete lie. If you are considering going inpatient detox, you might as well stay at home and CT yourself and save the money bc that is what these places do to you. They simply snatched me off klonopin cold turkey and put me on inderal, seroquel, gabitril, and 2 other meds (that I do not recall). I was much sicker after my discharge than I was bf my arrival. It was the most horrific experience of my entire life and I will never do it again.....ever!

IHMO luckycharm, you are suffering and sick from a mixture of underlying anxiety/panic made 100X worse by tolerance to benzos. Doctors should never allow patients take these really large doses of potent benzos like xanax, K, and ativan. My pdoc had this one girl on 8 mgs of xanax and she was really sick. I talked to her in the waiting room many years ago. I have since fired my pdoc (legal drug pusher IMO) and have a wonderful PCP who supports me in trying to get off benzos. He simply prescribes as I slowly taper. I told him what I was doing, why I was doing it, and he was fully supportive of my decision.

IMO again, you will never feel well or semi well until you can find a way off these horrid drugs and break the vicious cycle. It seems impossible I will admit and the pain is sometimes horrific but it can be done. The human body is amazing. It can withstand a lot more than you think.
