Researching tapering off Benzos

Hi, I joined this group hoping to get both insight and support on tapering off of benzodiazepines.  I am currently taking 2 mg per day of clonazepam and I've been taking it for about 4 years.  I have not started tapering yet as I want to get as much information as possible before doing so.

We are glad you found us. You are making a good decision, do your research before starting a taper!  We can help you with support and taper/withdrawal information. In general it’s advised to cut your daily dose by between 5% and 10% every 10 - 14 days.  This is depending on how you feel.  Many need to taper slower than this, whatever feels comfortable, the aim is to try to keep symptoms manageable.

 

I suggest you familiarise yourself with the Ashton Manual, It’s  great for understanding the effect benzodiazepines have on our body.  It also provides tapering and withdrawal information.  You will find some valuable support and info on the forum.
