How long until sx increase to a peak after you jumped?

Recommended Posts

I jumped from K 11 days ago and was symptomatic in varying degrees my entire taper. I feel like WD really started at days 4-5 off and then really hit hard at day 10. I was probably in acute already as I went really low before stepping off.

I understand WD is non-linear but when did symptoms peak for you (not start) post-jump/stepping off?

Mine peaked in month’s 2-4 after my CT. I had unknowingly been in tolerance withdrawal for the better half of 2 year’s but didn’t get the full intensity until the beginning of month 2. That’s when my daily panic attacks started & lasted the entire month into month 3. The became less & less until month 4 when I felt a substantial change in all of my sx. Almost like the thickness of the fog had began to lift. The intensity of all sx has really seemed to mellow out & continued to fade since.

Easydoseit45- Thanks for replying. So would you consider your acute lasting for about 4-5 months? How were you immediately (a few weeks) after your CT? I'm really glad you're past the worst part and are healing. That's great news!

I’d say that the acute was a solid 3-4 month’s. During this time period I basically had an array of sx 24/7, 7 days a week with the occasional window here & there. I had lost 32 lbs in the month’s proceeding my CT & had steadily been getting worse for around 4-5 month’s before I decided to call it completely quits. And then the real hell didn’t even kick in till around the 3rd week after complete cessation. Those few weeks after I CT’d I wasn’t functional by all means but I wasn’t in 24/7 agony either. I was basically bed & couch bound as I had been several times before whenever I didn’t have my medication. But it was more of a fog state, sort of on autopilot until my brain started to adjust from not having the meds. In month 8 rn & have seen a complete 180 degree turnaround. I’m back to a healthy weight (gained everything back that I had lost), my mental symptoms r nonexistent, eating & drinking whatever I like (minus alcohol) & living almost a completely normal life as I did before ever taking benzo’s. Still have some nerve pain/numbness & tingling along with some head pressure & dullness but absolutely nothing to the extent it was a few month’s ago. I’m exercising daily, working, & can enjoy whatever social events I choose to. I still get irritated & angered some days for no reason but I’ll take that any day over the anxiety, akathisia, anhedonia, & terror I had for the several month’s post CT. So healing is definitely happening & a lot faster than I had anticipated as well. Still, not as quickly as I had hoped but I’ll take it. So for anyone out there thinks that those that CT can’t heal or deal with more symptoms for longer, it’s just not true. This process is entirely individual. I not only drank, but abused my meds, kindled, & was taking opioids concurrently for several year’s. I honestly believe that I’ll b back to 100% before the end of this year. Just have to keep pushing & continue to keep the healthy lifestyle changes that were made in wd. Exercise, diet, & therapeutic outlets have made the largest contribution to healing by far. Along with trying to maintain as optimistic an outlook as possible, this stuff really makes all the difference in the world.

And btw, my doctor’s r completely clueless. But then again, I am dealing with the VA. When I decided to go off & had come into an appointment telling them about my panic attacks they just tried to put me on 3 more medications. Prozac, Zoloft, & Gabapentin & that I had developed a panic disorder. I told them they could shove it but was a little more tactical in my manner. They either know & choose not to believe the extent of damnage these meds do, or r don’t know & don't care. Wait until it happens to them or a loved one of theirs, then & only then we will there probably b a little more light shed on it’s severity.

Easydoesit45,

Thanks for explaining. So you would say the first two weeks you were OK then it really hit you at week 3? Did the symptoms from 3 weeks on plateau or continue to get worse and worse for the 4-5 months? Either way, I'm so glad to hear you're doing much better!

Dickie,

How are you doing since reinstating the sero?

Thanks I appreciate it. The first 2 weeks after I jumped I wasn’t “Ok” but I wasn’t getting all the crazy physical crap yet. It was more of just being hypersensitive while having the flu feeling. And then from week 3 until about the 4/5 month things got worse. It’s like it progressively got worse until it reached the 24/7 panic terror vibration crap, stayed there for a couple month’s & now has been dying down slowly since then. But in month 4/5 I noticed a pretty drastic decline in intensity. Since then it’s been slowly getting better & better. A bad day to me now is just being incredibly irritated & angry along with some annoying physical sx that persist throughout the day. On my good one’s I almost feel completely normal until I become aware that I’m feeling better, for some reason once I become aware that I’m almost sx free, my sx tend to get a little more noticeable. That’s why I try to keep myself as busy as possible. Hope things get better for u as well, all the best in healing.

Thanks brother. You’re healing and so will I. It’s interesting that with a short acting Benzo it took 3 weeks for the real WD to set in. It goes to show how unique all of this to each of us. You’re past your storm!

Thanks Sara. Day 3 was the most intense for you?

I hope you’re doing better

I had 5 miserable, brutal weeks of total insanity ... mental and physical.  In month 5 now, better but brutal.

I’m just now learning to navigate BB.  I miss my brain (and body).  I’m working on a more positive attitude!

We are healing.

TrustGod

I reinstated at half the jump dose after ten days off.  Nearly blew my head off.

Data guy sent be a complete guide and I reinstated at one eighth of my jump dose and feel as calm as a calm person being soothed by the Moonlight sonata.

Thanks for asking.

I have a PLAN instead of leaping around.

Data guy great advice and pretty firm!,

That’s so true. I honestly think it took that long to kick in bc of the duration I had been taking the pills. Bc in my first year back on, when I would stop, my anxiety would skyrocket the following 24-48 hrs. But as time went on, it would take longer for those sx to settle in & get worse. After feeling the type of rebound anxiety from stopping, I realized the anxiety I had experienced before was nothing in comparison. What’s crazy tho is that my anxiety has actually become basically nonexistent. Not even the anxiety I had before I started taking them. I wonder if the anxiety I had was due to the opioids or suboxone wd I had constantly put myself through. Bc now I don’t really feel anxious about anything. Even in social situations whatever nervousness I have feels completely normal. Makes me so much happier that I quit taking all that crap. You’ll heal too, I truly believe that our CNS is designed to return to its most natural state. So for those out there that have doubt, it happens. I was on & abused multiple medications for year’s & am well on my way to making a full recovery. All the best in healing
