Hello Everyone!

Hello,

I quit taking Klonopin cold-turkey in March of 2018. Not my best decision by far, and despite my background in psychopharmacology, I had no clue it would be such a struggle. I took Klonopin for six years (on and off for the first, constantly the five after that). It destroyed my personality - I no longer knew who I was. One day I couldn’t stand it anymore and jus quit taking it.

Although several of my symptoms have improved drastically since November, I am still plagued by vision and hearing problems. I am hoping to gain some insight on this board as to why the vision problems seem worse 14 months out :-/.

Welcome to BenzoBuddies!  We are glad you decided to join us.  You'll find a lot of support and information on this forum, which is the only one of its kind online.  Cold turkeying benzos can cause long lasting symptoms, and healing can take a long time, a year or more being common.  But, almost all heal eventually.

For those starting a taper, we generally recommend starting out at a rate of 5 to 10% every 10-14 days, then adjusting the taper to suit your own needs.  Note: very short term users may be able to taper faster.

Withdrawal symptoms, which vary widely but commonly include anxiety and insomnia, often occur during a taper, but these are temporary and will get better in time.  In general, first tapers are easier, but cold turkeys or multiple withdrawals may be more severe and longer lasting.  Here are a few links to get you started:

Once again, welcome!

Hi & Welcome!  Congratulations on quitting those nasty drugs. I'm currently a little over 8 months out & I know that WD symptoms can & will change throughout your healing, I don't think it's that unusual, so I wouldn't worry too much.  Stay Strong- All this will pass!
