Need some support. I am going away for 5 days. A long trip. 15 hours away from home incl 8 hours on a boat. I am afraid. Is in a brutal wave. Need to push mysemf doing this. My husband is so happy about this trip. I cant say no to him.. :'(

I was away last weekend it was hard but I did it anyway. The worst part was that I felt disoriented

Sundance,

I just returned from a week long cruise.  I can’t tell you how difficult it was ... stayed in my room as much as possible.  I’m only in month 5 since CT.  I was disoriented most of the trip, I only went for my husband.  The 14 hour drive (he drove) was a nightmare.  The thousands of people were a nightmare.  Symptoms raged.  My room and bed were my refuge.

I survived.  I call withdrawal survival.  I could not have done it two weeks earlier :(

I pretended I was home, crawled in bed when I needed a break (most hours).  I took care of myself first while gone.

If you go, take care of yourself, first.  Try to enjoy.  Practice mindfulness and distraction.  We are already surviving BWD.

We are all healing differently.  Only you know (or not) if you can do this.  Pretending I was home (positive self talk) got me through the trip.

So you also felt totally lost? I was tp a concert with 40.000 other fans last friday. It went ok but hard really hard. My hotelroom was super scary.  But now...a new country. Festival. Music. But I have our mobile home. Afraid I wont feel safe even there. But I dont know. I need to try :smitten:

Oh my, 40,000 fans?  Definitely pretend you are home!  I like what I keep reading on BB ... fake it til you make it!  :smitten:

Being disoriented is so tough, I found that being in the middle of thousands of strangers was easier than being in a small crowd of familiar faces.  Of course I messed up, I didn’t care as I knew no one, they were strangers (made it easier for me).

I’m happy you have your mobile home to escape to if need be.

I know you're super scared, but to ease your concern about being in another country: Germany is a great 1st world country. If you were to be in any trouble at all (medical, or whatever), you can count on the emergency services there to be up to international standard. So I wouldn't worry there. :)
