questions about healing...looking for answers

I'm just curious.  Can a person all of a sudden start feeling a lot better.  I'm pretty sure I'm in a wave right now.  I dunno, it gets confusing at times.  Just wondering since I'm 4 months out and still feeling really bad if I can expect to have a really long process or If there is a possibility it could get better soon.  Either way I'm prepared to continue this journey...... although healing sooner than later is a nice thought.  Do people just all of a sudden start getting better.  Is it consistent.  Or could I just wake up one morning and feel a lot better.  I'm sure healing is different for everyone but I'm curious as to what healing has looked like for different people

These are good questions, and no one can truly answer them. it seems that healing is a  very individual thing.

I don't know your benzo history (too tired to read your Sig, excuse me for this!) If you are now off benzos entirely, it is possible you could heal faster than some.

Everyone is so different in how they heal from benzos. Do not compare yourself. Huge mistake to do that. You are uniquely you and you will heal in your own special way.

I judged my own healing by when certain symptoms just went away. I was a very slow healer, but that might be because I took benzos for 30 long years PLUS went CT. I also went CT off w2 Ads, all at the same time. NOT a good thing!

My real healing did not occur til the third year. One day, I realized that I nop longer had DP/DR stuff. That was huge

Let me know how I can further help you.

I was on klonopin for about 4  months and xanax for 2.  Got up to 3 mg and did a rapid taper.  The symptoms i Still have that are bothersome are mainly connected to a sensitive central nervous system.  I really dont' have any of the scary psychological symptoms... like depersonalization, derealization, or brain fog.  mentally I feel pretty clear.  My anxiety isn't that bad.  My symptoms feel more physical.  Just sensitive.  Even walking up the stairs is bothersome at times.  I can go out and do stuff.... I don't like too but if I have too I can.  I've had a few windows but they have been really short.

I'm also at almost 4 months off and getting frustrated. I have all the psych symptoms tho too. I was on klonopin for seven years. If I'm reading right you were only on benzos a few months. I've seen people on here have long lasting symptoms from a few months use but I've also read that the length of time yr on them somewhat may determine recovery time. I'm no expert but from other peoples posts this is what I've concluded. I hope you feel better soon!

Sunlit10 I really hope you get too feeling better soon.  The thing I keep seeing is people do get better.  I can't imagine dealing with DP/DR on top of what I'm already dealing with.  But I'm confident and have accepted that this is going to be a journey.  I've always been pretty strong willed but I tell you what... this will break anyone.  Anyways I hope your journey gets easier soon.

Thankfully you weren’t on them long but each person is different when it comes to healing. I took a baby dose of .5 mg for panic attacks as needed for 7 months and then took daily for another 8 months. I am almost 10 months and still have symptoms. You can see a list of things I am still dealing with in my signature. 👍🏽
