Hello buddies, I just joined benzobuddies as I am quite afraid of the benzodiazepine I am having (3mg lorazepam). I think my fear is purely psychological. However, I cannot take away from my mind that I am going to get hooked up to lorazepam. It has been 4 months since I started with the treatment for depression and anxiety (300mg venlafaxine, 3mg lorazepam and 5mg olanzapine), and the only thought that comes to my mind is how to reduce the lorazepam dosage.

Do you know where may I find a protocol for lowering the dosage?

Any CBT book that may help tappering off?

Hello, t4m4g0tch1 — welcome to BenzoBuddies!

Good decision to taper off lorazepam, in my opinion – it can make depression significantly worse, as I found out myself.

Don’t be afraid – we’re here to help you.

The Ashton Manual provides information that can be useful during any stage of withdrawal and recovery, and includes a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations.

For those who are currently tapering, a starting guideline is that the dosage not be reduced faster than by 5-10% every 10-14 days, although some taper even more slowly than that. One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper somewhat faster.

Welcome

And I hope you feel helped and make progress!

We all hate being on benzos , but for me the second generation antipsychotics are the concern.

Your psych may have you on them for very good reasons. I only mention it because Seroquel has altered my cholesterol etc and has been difficult to get off. I hope your Ativan taper works well and you should discuss it all with your prescriber.

With best wishes for a speedy recovery

Dickie
