1mg lorazepam. Not started yet.

Hi! 5 years ago I had social anxiety and was prescribed 60 mg duloxetine and 1 mg lorazepam. I took that for three years but I didn't feel good so I changed doctors.

Then I was changed to 20 mg paroxetine and 1 mg lorazepam. I only took lorazepam now and then for sleep and stressful moments.

I took this for a year and started reducing the dose of paroxetine because I still didn't feel good. I reduced it slowly during a year. But to help the withdrawal I started needing lorazepam because I felt the anxiety again.

Now I've realized I can't stop taking 1 mg lorazepam right now. I've found this site and the testimonials online and I want to taper off slowly.

Thanks

Hi easyjourney

Welcome to Benzobuddies!  You will receive a lot of support and information here on withdrawing from benzodiazepines.  A gradual taper of 5-10% every 10-14 days is generally recommended.  It’s okay to taper slower, whatever feels comfortable, the aim is to try to keep symptoms manageable.  I am going leave a link to the Ashton Manual, a great source of information about these types of medications and how to withdraw.

“Professor Ashtons Manual”

Feel free to post to any of the dedicated boards.  We have a wonderful community of people here.  Our members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

Here are a few links to information on tapering and withdrawal support:

If you would be so kind as to add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice this link will show you how to”Create a signature”

Hi easyjourney, welcome to BB!

I'm a fellow lorazepam user (17 years) who also used to be on Paxil first and then Zoloft, which I tapered off a few years ago.  Are you still taking the Paxil or did you finish that taper?

Just wanted to say hello and let you know you'll find lots of experience and support here to help you on your journey.

Glad you found us!

Hi magrita, PeacefulHope and sierra7!

Thanks for the support. I'll join the Ativan Support Group. I've finished my Paxil taper. I didn't know the hard part was the benzo withdrawal. Now I'm trying to find a stable dose to stick with for a while because I wasn't really taking the same dose everyday and I thought I was losing my mind because of the withdrawal from the benzo but I didn't understand how it works.

Having found this forum gives me hope.

Easy journey

I don’t think Hope is all you will feel!!, You are gonna get off this with help, even if it takes a while.

The group will teach you about liquid tapering and slow reduction. There is no rush!

Cracking Paxil was a great achievement, Ativan reduction might cause discomfort but there are so many success stories on here

Best wishes

Dickie
